So the plan was for our family to NOT do MNSSHP but I am reconsidering as my twins will be 10, DS loves Disney villains and well, we have never done it before. Our one day to do AK is the same day as MNSSHP (as predicted by park hours of MK) and need input from all you veterans....

Can we swing an AK day on Sunday (9am-5pm) AND MNSSHP in one day? We are typically a "rope drop until you kick us out" family...Is it something not to be missed??? We have an 8am Akershus planned for the next morning as well that we have promised our daughter we would do (to get into Epcot early)!

Wow Three parks in 24 hrs. That is full on touring!

We love MNSSHP and would recommend it to everyone. However if you are set on visiting AK that morning. That parks zaps my energy! We only manage RD to about 4pm at Animal Kingdom and that is me DONE!

Last two visits for us attending the party. We had quiet mornings, did a bit of shopping at DTD ate an early dinner then hit the party about 5ish. We managed to stay until midnight both times. Crowds definitely thin out after the first parade. Rides and treat stops were a breeze after then! Next morning we had another quiet morning then waterpark! We are kinda wimps on a WDW vacation. Often RD until dinner then in bed before 10!

Your early start for breakfast means no time to recover!

What are your plans after breakfast? All day at Epcot?

How many days are you visiting for? When is your travel day home?

It's a lot of money to spend if it means you can't enjoy the rest of your vacation!

I have done AK and MVMCP in one day no problem. I don't think we stayed till midnight, maybe 11ist. Not sure I had that early of a start the next day, maybe rope drop for 9 am. If you are doing Epcot all day next day, you will be tired by mid-afternoon. You can probably make it the whole day, but the following day might be a struggle if you don't have downtime planned. I have also done MNSSHP and love both parties. I think you will enjoy the party. Enjoy your trip,

We've done it before.
We arrived at park opening at AK, but left around parade time. Back to our resort to change and freshen up, quick bite to eat.
Then arrived at MK sometime around 5:30.
Now we do MNSSHP differently than a lot of folks in that we like to take advantage of low wait times and do rides 90% of the party time. So for us to arrive on party nights at 5:30 or 6:00 is ok since we don't feel the need to be in character lines early.
If you are willing to either leave AK a little early or arrive at the party "late" meaning not at 4 pm, you guys can swing it and it would be s great way to maximize park tickets and party tickets!

This is exactly what we did last October. We got to AK around park open, stayed until around 1 PM, then went back to the resort to rest a little and get ready for the party. Worked out perfectly!

That's our plan for this Halloween... AK in the morning, leave early afternoon, rest, costume up, and head to the party.

I sense a theme here. We are doing the same thing.

AK in the morning with a breakfast at Tusker House, then back to the resort when we are done with some touring and lunch. Resort to rest and get ready for the part. Early dinner at MK then enjoy the party till we drop. Our next morning would be our last full day in the World and what we dub our "clean up day" where we just head to whatever park(s) we want and re-ride or ride things we missed or want to re-ride. No rushing around, no waking up early...just relaxing and taking it all in.

We are doing something similar. Epcot early (hoping for Akershus breakfast ADR) til mid afternoon, back to Pop to get ready, then MK around 430 ish for the party. The next day will be our second Epcot day but we'll have breakfast at our resort. We arrive the day before the party so I don't think we'll be too tired!

I wouldn't have a problem with AK before the party. It's the 8am breakfast the next day that would give us a problem. Usually on party nights we aren't in bed until after 1am. To get to Epcot before 8am would mean waking up at 6am, unless we were staying at YC/BC or Boardwalk. Less than five hours of sleep wouldn't cut it for my family. *I* could do it, but my kids could not. :faint:

I think the parties are great, and I'd put them above almost anything else. You can cram in a lot of rides, and the other stuff is neat, too. Plus, it's nice to be in the park with a bit of breathing room.

Can you reschedule the Epcot morning? Or is that where Anna and Elsa are now?

I have to agree with jcemom The "day of" park would be fine but the next morning to be at in Norway before 8:00 am would be killer for us. As we don't even stay until close but by the time you get back to the resort and to your room and actually get to sleep it's late.:)

We have always done a park like ak or Epcot during the day of the MNSSHP. So we do the exact same thing as well :) When we didn't have our AP we didn't want to waste a days admission on MK the same day as the party. So this is def what I would do and have done many times :) AK is usually doesn't keep us until even 5, we can be done by 3 at the latest. So it's always a good option.

Definitely do able!! That's usually my plan on MNSSHP days is AK in the morning!

We'll do rope drop at 9am, head straight to EE, ride a few times, hop to the safari, ride it, head over to FOTLK, watch it, catch some characters, early lunch, maybe ride Dino, and probably watch FOTLK again.

We leave back to the resort around 2pm, maybe 3pm, get ready quick, grab some dinner and head out to MK for around 5 or 6 for mnsshp!

First of all if your son loves villains definitely go to MNSSHP - our son is a Villain fan and truly loves MNSSHP especially the villain meet and greets after the Villain show at the castle

As far as doing AK & MNSSHP in a single day - it is very doable, but might not be advisable. Last year we did similar - a park then MNSSHP - the only problem I found was that DS got tired at party and we left earlier then in the past and didn't get in and trick or treat time. We got to see the Villains show twice and got pictures with all the villains and saw the parade and did some rides when we got there but after parade DS was just fizzling out. It was a long day.

As other's suggested it might be good to plan an afternoon break to go back to room relax a bit and change into costume before you head for MK. Or if know your family can handle the long day, maybe an early ADR the next morning is not advisable.

It's just that MNSSHP is great and I'm sure your family will want to enjoy all of it and an almost full day of AK then right over to MNSSHP may be a bit much. I know it will for my family (our son is 7)..but you know your family best and if you have the energy - then timing wise you will be able to do it.

Have a great time.
