We are going to our first MNSSHP this October. I love Halloween and am so excited! I have a 1980's wedding dress with a full skirt (no train) that I have worn for Halloween in the past and I think it would be fun to wear at MNSSHP. However, I am concerned the full skirt will be an issue when going on some of the rides such as Big Thunder Railroad, Space Mountain, etc. Thoughts?

Also my daughters said that my costume HAS to be Disney themed for the party. Does it or do they just want my costume to be Disney themed? Thanks for the advice!

It does not have to be Disney themed at all. Disney won't turn you away at the door if you show up as a Pokemon or Harry Potter or something.

But you could be the Haunted Mansion bride...

It does not have to be Disney themed. If it is and is realistic, you will be asked to not form a line for photos with guests (you can take photos with someone who asks, but not have a wait is what I was told, a lot) and to not sign autographs/pass yourself off as a real disney CM.

I had a fairly full Cinderella dress last year and though I'm not a coaster person, was fine on peter pan, small world, pirates etc. You'll have a blast!

I went wearing a full cloak and didn't have issues on rides. And no it doesn't have to be disney themed I went as an X-men character. But be prepared if it drags at all to have problems, I know they have a rule against that for safety concerns.

As the others have said, your costumes does not have to be Disney-themed. I would say that more people are in Disney-themed costumes than in non-Disney, but I've seen plenty of Harry Potters and other characters. You won't see very many "adult" costumes (the one "French Maid" really stood out like a sore thumb). Personally, I probably wouldn't go on rides with tight seating if the skirt is really full, but if it can squish down, you'll be fine.

Costumes and some rides don't really go together, but there's so many party things to do that I usually go on HM & that's it, too many other things!

I saw a very uh, adult oriented Belle. I'm amazed they let her stay in. When walking behind her, you could see cheekage next to the teeny tutu.. She stood out like crazy. This was right at 4 though, I imagine she was asked to leave as I was there until it closed and never saw her again.
