MNSSHP 2015 - Be Prepared For Chaos

"hot lapping rides like a boss"

Hot lapping rides = riding multiple times in quick succession with little to no wait
Like a boss = "a catchphrase often used in image macros or GIFs that feature a person completing an action with authority and finesse." That is from Know Your Meme but it is NSFW so I don't want to link it.

It originated, as far as I know, in a Lonely Island song of the same name...also very much NSFW.

Thanks, I knew the Like a Boss, but the hot lapping rides thing was totally out there for me.

One thing I wonder about though is that during the day the crowd is more spread out at the rides, restaurants, etc. whereas at the parties people are more likely to be in some of the same places (Main Street, rare character meets, etc). If you account for most rides being walk-on or close to it at the parties but 30-60 minutes waits during the day...then add in all the people in restaurants I bet that makes a big difference.
But we had 30-60 minutes waits at 9pm at night during our MVMCP last Nov. Very few rides were walk on. I was under the impression that rides wouldn't be the same or worse as they are during the day. And the crowds were also heavy through out the park, not just Main Street or the Hub. It wasn't until well after 10pm that we could ride Space Mountain "hot lapping like a boss" as previous posters are saying!!!

We were at a sold out party last year. It was crowded but definitely manageable. It wasn't like what some people are describing from last night. Really hoping they haven't started selling MORE tickets to the parties. It takes away from the fact that you are spending "more" money to go to a party that should feel more "exclusive". We don't wait in line for characters though. We watch the parade and Hallowishes, but spend the rest of our time taking advantage of low lines on rides. And last year, the only really crowded rides were HM and 7DMT. Other rides were not as long of a wait as was posted. Space Mountain had posted a 20 minute wait, but it was walk up. My daughter and I ran around and rode it 3 times in a row. This year we are going on Oct. 18th. Hope things calm down by then. I just watched the Hocus Pocus show online. It didn't look all that exciting to me, so we'll pass on that as well, and hit rides during the shows.

****Hot lapping rides"****
Gee Johnny Spase Mountain sure was swell. Yes it sure was Betsey Sue. Hey Johnny seeing everyone is standing in line waiting on candy and refreshments or watching the parade maybe we can get back in line and ride it again?? Why sure we can Betsey Sue, thats a swell idea its only a 5 minute stand by time.

You must be 75 and a retired Sunday school teacher.

Please don't stereotype people.

Jeez. Cool it newbie. It was said jokingly. :rolleyes1

This makes me sad. We are planning on going Sept next year and I really wanted to do the party. We did MVMCP last December and we had fun but it was a mess. I felt like my plan went out the window and we didn't do nearly as much as we wanted to that night. Reading about the halloween party and going early Sept seemed like the party would be much more doable and we would get to do more with a plan but after reading this I don't know. We will have a 4 and 7 year old and waiting 2 hours in a line to see any character just isn't worth it. I am torn now.

I think judging from all the other posts about the crowds you are in the minority thinking the event wasn't over crowded.
If it is true that Disney gave away free passes to 500 or so bloggers, and some (or all) of those bloggers are the Disney Stepford Moms who are compensated for being unabashed cheerleaders, then somewhere in the ethernet are people who will be posting that this was the most magical party that they have ever been to, with low crowds and easy access to everything. I am not saying that the poster you quoted is one such person. But surely such people have to be out there somewhere. How else could Disney justify giving out the tickets, and how else could the bloggers justify using the tickets?

Was there last night and it was complete chaos, I had never seen something like that before.

At one point nobody could even move in the streets, it was just people shoulder to shoulder completely blocked, For Parade viewing, we saw people 8 or 9 people back trying to see the parade, it was crazy.

Lines for food were out the doors and wrapped around the buildings, a lot of the quick carts were closed so you couldn't even get a snack or water.

We ended up only going to 3 of the trick or treat candy spots, the rest had lines that were easily an hour long, just to get a handful of generic candy!

We didn't end up even going on any rides or seeing any characters, it was just total madness. Staff was scrambling, you could hear on the walkie talkies them trying to figure out how to work things but there was way too many people.

That sounds so not fun. My husband doesn't like crowds much anyways so if this happened at the party night he wouldn't want to go back again :( I really wanted to do the party next Sept but that sounds not fun at all. This really should be limited to tickets sold on a way less scale its extra money and should feel less crowded than any given day at Disney

I was there last night with my 16 year old son. We went when he was 9 and thought he could relive his childhood, lol. Needless to say, the crowds were much different than 7 year ago. Whereas we got to the parade 20 minutes before it started and found a great spot years ago, this time it was hard to even know where the parade viewers ended and the walkway began. The viewing for the Hocus Pocus show was outrageous. It you wanted to move around that area, you were out of luck. It was ridiculous how many people were between Main Street and the Castle. Now, the rides were another thing, yes. Walk ons for pretty much everything. Except of course, Mine Train. Another big disappointment. We waited on line for about 30 minutes after dark and then they told us it was broken. They issued anytime fast passes to everyone but small consolation when we were leaving the next day. Then about an hour later, after the fireworks, they said the ride was fixed and let everyone back on the line. After about two or three mine trains went through, they said it was down and once again threw everyone off. Did I have a terrible time? No. Will I ever pay extra money for another one of these events? Not on your life. What good are the special events if you are packed in like sardines to see them?

We used to go to the Halloween party every trip (mid-October) but I stopped going because it has just gotten too crowded. My DD loves the party so last year she and her BF went while DH & I had a nice romantic dinner at California Grill.

Has anyone (not just you Jimmy) seen any blogger reviews from last night? I'm checking the usual suspects that I read (and a few that I don't) and there's nothing. It's odd. Of course, maybe Disney bloggers have real jobs and won't have posts up for awhile.

I believe what this poster means is that if everyone is in live for 7DMT, candy, a meet and greet, or at the hub for a show. parade, or fireworks you should be able to head out to the other lands and ride attractions with short waits. Just get away from those things and go ride the mountains, Jungle Cruise, or other rides.

Or they mean something completely different and I'm way off.
Just a heads up, Jungle Cruise does not operate during MNSSHP, and of course POTC is also closed (but normally would operate if not down down for refurb.). Also not operating are: Hall of Presidents and Carousel of Progress,

Don't worry, I am sure that the Media, the new Hocus Pocus show, and the event schedule changes impacted last nights party. It's the first party. Disney has time to sort things out as time progresses. I hope they took notes. Lol. Keep a look out on the status of this years September progress. This might help you determine the best time to visit. Also, like one other poster mentioned, choose a day that does not have discounts for DVC or AP.

lol I'm the person quoted and I'm definitely not a Stepford Disney Mum. I'm just a 25 year old student from London. If only Disney would sponsor me to come to their events (it's pretty expensive coming from the UK)! Maybe I just had different expectations of the party than a lot of people, maybe I've just got good timing...who knows. But I did actively AVOID Main St and the Hub because it was busy in the lands so I figured it would have been even worse. I never said it wasn't busy, just not unmanageable for me personally. Some negatives about the party....some candy givers were only gave 1 or 2 candies, they removed 2 smoking areas so I had to keep going to Frontierland because I didn't know where any of the others were, there are too many nut based chocolates, basically no villains to meet....sure I can think of some more

Am I the only one who thinks it would be a great idea if they setup a viewing screen behind the Castle or maybe even simulcast this show to the Tomorrowland screen where the dance party is? Might alleviate some of the crowd in the Hub / Main Street area.

jtown - a lot of bloggers posted photos on Twitter last night: #MNSSHP #NotSoScary
Some left the park at 1:30a after they shot their Castle photos.

For those who were in the park already how did you get your wristband? We are looking at spending the day in MK. We do have tickets for both.

Yes, they can bring family. I don't know if it's unlimited extra tickets, but it's at least one guest per person. (https://twitter.com/FloridaPlunge/status/643885541092642816)

The media group is separate from the blog group. The blog group got MagicBands, treats, etc. I don't think the media did. (https://twitter.com/belle599/status/644161581329190912)

They also got a private M&G with Tiana.

And an exclusive MB.

Looking at both of the individuals, they seem to be part of the blog event, they both got Magicbands. That was 150 winners, plus a guest, so 300. The first MNSSHP is usually NOT media night, I think thats the first Friday. Of course, they all need to be first, so buy tickets to the first party anyway. And according to @Berlioz70 Tiana is available for everyone. I cant see your picture, so dont know why you think it was exclusive.

The blogger corp is responsible for a lot of things, but a packed party isnt one of them, a late start, Rosh Hashanah, and the new castle show are your culprits.
