MNSSHP 2015 - Be Prepared For Chaos

I will echo a lot of what was said above. We have been to first parties before and it was nothing like last night. For my family it is an extra park night with a few bonuses. Last night was the first party where I felt rushed. The parade times made planning hard. We went to the late on one but it effectively ends your night. We found our spot at 1030, in frontier land, and it was 1135 before we got back to fantasy land for a last ride.

In general, we found ride lines short enough. We ALWAY saw a huge mass of bodies outside the haunted mansion, so we never went in. It was fun,but not the "best night of the year" that it has been in the past. We don't set foot on main street except to come in and leave and I still felt like there were too many bodies.
This has been my experience all wee this week. WAY more people than I have ever seen here this week in September. If this is as quiet as Disney gets, I'm glad I have never seen busy.

Any chance they'll change the number of tickets being sold for future parties after learning from this experience??? We're going on 10/29 and I fear it will sell out too.

We went to MVMCP early last November, it was insane for crowds (it was sold out), it was hard to do anything and by far no where near as enjoyable as the Halloween parties we had experienced in the past.

We are going this year Oct 1, I am hoping it will be less crowded!

We were there last night too. Halloween party used to be my favorite part of the trip but last night I decided not to do it when we go next year. Not worth the money anymore.

We were there last night. There were way too many people for the cost of the tickets. I have never been to such a crowded party. It was definitely not worth the money. This was the last party for us too. Disney greed strikes again! When I return home, I will be sending them a complaint. Not that it will do any good, but it will make me feel better!

I suspect it was sold out AND they sent the media along with all the bloggers & their families, without those folks needing tickets. (I saw someone post a photo of the bloggers' pass on Instagram.)

That would make it the most crowded party of the year... even worse than Halloween night.

That's EXACTLY the reason!

The Disney Parks Blog also had a meet up.

I don't expect additional parties to be nearly as crowded.

I have not been to a hard ticket party for years because Disney oversells them. Just look at the Villains thing at DHS to see what all hard ticket events will be like. That's what Disney wants, to maximize profits at the expense of good show. Iger is very pleased this morning.

Isn't the first party or two also like Cast Member Previews where the CM gets to attend after that they are not allowed in the parties unless they buy a ticket?

Now it's been a few years...but when I was a cast member we always had to pay

Yes the candy trails were long for a little while at the start but they don't exactly take forever to get through...... and I definitely think some of the wait times posted were inflated. HM said 15 mins at 9.45ish and it was a walk on.....

I think 2 things added to the crowds last night:
1) Mine train went down for a long time meaning the hundreds of people who would've been in there had to find something else to do

2) It's been a long weekend so many people who were at the parks in the morning I think would've stayed especially once everyone in their costumes started showing up.

Everyone still to go: don't worry too much just yet, there has only been one party so far over a long weekend which means diddly squat as to how the crowds will be for the rest of the parties. I would wait until next week when there's been a few more parties before panicking. I'm at the party on friday and sunday so I'll no doubt post afterwards how they go

How was it a long weekend, labor day weekend was the week before so nothing special about this weekend.

I think that could be a big part of it. The blog/review/media group has been getting huge and they are everywhere for first night/day whatever now.

CM's get discounted tickets to all September dates, but there are no preview parties.
Generally CM previews will be for free events and happen a day or two before it starts (F&W, Osborne, etc)

Wait a minute, how many blogger tickets do you think they gave away? Are we talking an extra 5000 people because of this? Personally I wouldn't expect the number to be more than 500 and a park that routinely operates at 50K in attendance per day should be able to handle that.

NorthEast schools were off this past Monday and Tuesday in observance of Rosh Hashanah. Many families fly down and make a short trip out of the long four day weekend.

Perhaps they gave away 500 blogger tickets but they could bring their families. That would quickly add up.

I have been to parties on sold out nights before and while it was crowded, it was not awful as I have seen several reports about last night (except for one MVMCP several years ago). I wonder if it was because they sold more tickets OR because they cut so many character meet and greets and a full dance party this year which means there are less activities and lines to spread people out. We bought tickets to multiple nights based on our history at the party before we say how many cuts were made this year, and now I am starting to regret that decision. At least last year we could pay for meet and greets with the villains- this year there is no opportunity at all for meet and greets with Maleficent, Evil Queen (not in Hag form), or Dr. Facilier . Seems like there a lot of characters there that are no different than what is available every day, and a big shortage of the ones who drew lots of people (like the princes in addition to the villains). Seems like they just don't have enough special things this year to keep the crowd spread.
