MNSSHP 2006, Ready to start planning!

(Quick fun fact: Not to be a name dropper, well,ok, to be a name dropper: Last year when we went to the Bathroom at CG to get changed into our costumes, we saw Kelly Preston, aka, Mrs. John Travolta, dressing her daughter into her costume! Sorry, but I love Celebrity spottings. It would've been even better if we caught a glimpse of John Travolta himself, but oh well, we should've went into the men's bathroom :teeth: )

That bathroom is So Small!!!! How neat! What was her daughter dressed as? I guess she didn't want to dress up because it would just draw more attention to who she is.
We just saw her this past weekend in that movie with Amanda Bynes...The kids like that one (me, too :) ) Her looks haven't changed at all. Man, I would've done my best Agent 99 and snooped around the place for her husband!

LOL! :rotfl2:

It was neat, but ditto, how neat would it have been to see John Travolta??? That's an ultimate Celeb spotting!
Actually, she was dressed up, she had a witch's costume on and I want to say that her daughter was dressed the same way. I can't clearly remember what her daughter was wearing but she was definitely a witch and I'm pretty sure her daughter was too. :stir:

BTW, I'm going to go on your DIS MNSSHP thread as I just noticed your signature for people going on October 6th- And that would be me! pirate:

I could go for seeing Johnny Depp with his pirate outfit or without . . . :smokin:

Admittedly I have not read back the 59 pages that y'all have here, so forgive me if I ask a question that has been beat to death here . . .

We have an ADR for 5:25 pm at 'Ohana before the party on 10/5. We have tried to get it earlier, but no go. My plan is to try to get there by 5 pm, when they open, and hope that with a little pixie dust we will get seated early.

This is my first MNSSHP so I am not sure if I really need to be there early or not . . . we have 2 other partial days planned at MK.

What do y'all think? Keep 'Ohana or try to get an earlier seating somewhere else?

Ok, I tried, really I did, but this thread is sooooo long!

We're attending MNSSHP for the first time ever on 9/15!!

If we don't dress up, would we feel "less" part of the activities? I'm concerned that is still going to be pretty warm and we don't want to swelter in heavy costumes.

I was trying to think of some ideas for us and wondered if we all wore black pants, red t-shirts (that we would have made with a pirate logo of some kind) and then either bandannas or pirate hats, would that look ok for costumes?

Do you all recommend eating in the park that night before the party?

beattyfamily & Disney Girli-Wirlie thank you for the help. I was feeling so confused about that. Sometimes I feel a little silly stressing out about ADRs & other trip related stuff(especially when we're still 3 months away) but I know my DISers understand. Stress now, have fun later, right?

Disney Girlie-WirlieHow cool to see Kelly Preston in the bathroom. Did you talk to her? Did you ask if John was there too? How come we never see celebs at Disney? BTW, if I see Johnny Depp going in the men's room to change I'm going in there, and I'm not coming back out!!!! ;)

welovedis - I am going on the 9/15. It will be me and my sister with my two kids (they are 6 and 7). The kids will be on costume but my sister and I will not (well, she wouldn't except that I'm not - and she said if I'm not dressing up then she isn't). I don't think you'll be alone or feel out of place not in costume.

We're going on the 15th too! Dd will dress as Cinderella or Tinkerbell (changes by the day) and dh & I will be pirates (easy and not too hot!).

I plan to do a counter service meal in the park for dinner. We went to the MVMCP in December and I felt like I wasted too much time eating dinner. Just my opinion though!

I'm looking for opinions on whether or not a "real" bullwhip would be considered a weapon as part of an Indiana Jones costume. I'm also debating whether one could get away with a toy gun in a holster. I've seen pics of Indiana Joneses at past MNSSHPs, but I can't tell if they have the bullwhip and gun. Seems kinda pointless without the whip... then you're just a dude in a fedora hat!

Any opinions?

Don't forget the very hot jacket and the really big purse. :teeth:

I would say that the bullwhip may cause security a problem. Especially if they consider it even the least bit functional. One thing to consider...does Disney sell bullwhips in the parks? If so, then set back a little cash and buy one there, keep your receipt, and say it's a souvenir.

The toy gun would have to be obviously a toy. The rules state that things cannot be mistaken for authentic weapons. You could do like Woody and not have a gun in your holster. Just say you respect Woody's rules and you have Disney-fied Indy.

That's what we thought about the pirate thing too, easy, not too hot and not too costly.

I was wondering about doing CS instead of a sit-down, maybe we'll just do that instead. Also, do we go to Tomorrowland in between the park closing time and the party beginning? If so, we'll just do Cosmic Rays (along with everyone else probably) and chill out there.

Thinking of upgrading our room & surprising my family with the GF instead of POP, since after this trip & our Dec one we won't be back for at least 2 years. It would be cool to be on the monorail & just go right back there after the party!

Did anyone ever post where Cinderella's carriage was located at the party?

Last year, the the carriage was at the 'edge' of Fantasyland. As if you are leaving IASW, and going downhill, there near the stroller area.

Regarding the land that is kept open for the hour the park is closed: In years past it was always Tomorrowland with Cosmic Rays staying open and being a zoo but last year they changed it to Adventureland/Frontierland and Pecos Bills was a zoo!

We'll see this year.

!
That was our original plan. Then I thought about the fact that everyone else would be eating there too. Yesterday I called and made an ADR for Tony's at 6:10.

We're going to US/IOA October 4-8, First trip there in 4 years. I went ahead and ordered MNSSHP tickets for October 5th, we missed it last year due to last minute rescheduling of trip due to my father's death. I have an ADR for Concourse Steakhouse, tried Ohana but it was booked till 7:55. I forget about the 180 day window for ADR's now. We figure we may decide to just do CS but it's good to have a TS to fall back on. Younger DD is planning to be Jack Sparrow (don't ask, she's obsessed with the movies!). No ideas for the older DD. Any ideas for an 11 year old that 's "too old" to be a princess?

Yeah, I hear ya, stress always somehow seems to sneak it's way into our plans, doesn't it? As long as you just enjoy yourself and relax when you're there, then it'll be all good and all worth it. :teeth:

Understood! I'd be in there too...And I don't think we would be the only ones!

Ahhhh, Johnny Depp WITHOUT his prate costume on. That's a pleasant thought, I'm gonna go sleep on it...
:cloud9:

firkat, two years ago we had a 5:15 ADR for Ohana before the party. Due to problems with our check in at the Poly (split stay, don't do that on a party day ) we were barely in our room before our ADR. We were seated promptly at 5:15, and were done and back in the room to dress the girls by 6:15. This year we tried too late for Ohana so we are doing Portofino Bay with dinner at Concourse steakhouse before the party on the 5th.

Even though the park is technically "closed" to non-ticket holders, do the buses still run regularly to MK during MNSSHP? I thinking I might arrive later, closer to 9pm. Will I still be able to get a bus to MK? :moped:
