This is our first time going in October 9/30-10/6. I can not wait for MNSSHP. Does everybody dress in costumes every day or is just for the night time during the parade??? :confused3
Also, what about the trick or treating in the parks is that all day too?? Help!!!any advice please????????

This is our first MNSSHP, too! We're planning on October 17 as long as the calendar remains as it is now. Our kids (5 and 6) will dress up for the party only. My understanding is that trick-or-treating happens only in the evening at the party. Have fun!

We plan on going to the Oct. 2 MNSSHP!! It is the free dining that made that extra long weekend possible for us!! We are arriving 9/16-9/23 then on the Magic 9/23-9/30 and with the money saved during our first week at Disney we are returning for an extra "sneak vacation" 9/30-10/2 and capping it off with our first ever MNSSHP! We are so very excited!! :hyper:  party: :jumping1: :smickey: :tink: This is our Disney dream vacation come true!! Any hints and tips about planning for MNSSHP would be greatly appreciated! :bounce:  :cool1: :rotfl2: :lmao:

So, my son wants to be Yoda for the MNSSHP. All of the costumes I have found have a full latex head. I don't want that. I'm assuming it will be warm for the party so a full head will be too hot to wear, and uncomfortable regardless of weather. I'm trying to come up with a way to make a hat and attach the Yoda ears, but I don't sew! :confused3 I can, however, hot glue! hahaha! ANY suggestions on how to make the Yoda ears work? Thanks!

We did not purchase park tickets for the date we plan to attend MNSSHP. We are going to do a late breakfast at CM then back to the hotel to rest/change into costumes. (adults and children are going to be in costume) We are going to MK sometime after 4 to eat and party. I would guess people will be in costume starting after 4 and trick or treating starts at 7pm.

My son was in a school play a few years ago and he was playing the part of a rat, lol! So he had an all-in-one black costume and then for the ears I bought a girl's hairband (hear me out, hear me out...... lol!).... I removed the satin covering to leave just a black hard plastic band and attached two furry ears to both sides using elastic (which was *under* the fur). I hope that makes sense! The band worked great because it went on top of his head and couldn't be seen at all really! Hope that helped!

Other than LTT what other restaurants (TS & CS) are open beginning around 5 p.m. and during the party?? THANKS!!

Crystal Palace & Tony's Town Square are open, but I am not sure how late.

We will be there at the same time :goodvibes Not everyone dresses up. We wore t-shirts last year that I made. You do see alot of cute costumes though, adult & children. With your MNSSHP ticket you can get into the park any time after 4pm. At 6pm they close the park & those staying for the party are directed to a certain area of the park & you can ride whatever rides are open in that area. The party officially starts at 7pm. There are different places to trick or treat & these places have balloons or something like that so you can identify them.

You can get your picture taken for free(these places are designated on the map you will be given). Depending on the number of members in your party you will receive that amount of pictures(there were 3 of us, so I received 3 pictures, only one pose). These have a nice halloween background. When had our pictures taken later in the evening & we got right in.

There are places for face painting, storytelling, & 2 parades. The headless horseman will ride before the parade(weather permitting). There is also a fantastic fireworks show! The characters are out & you can get alot of pictures. My favorite was Snow White & the 7 Dwarfs, I was so excited to get my picture taken with them lol

I know there is lots more, hopefully this helps some. You will have a wondertful time! If you are planning on wearing costumes I would go with something light. It is still very warm. Bring rain ponchos just in case. It did rain for awhile when we there, but it did not stop us :teeth: We are going to the party on the 2cd, which one are you going to?

You could also try a monorail resort restaurant. We have ADR's for 1900 Park Fare at 5:30 on the 29th. I tried to get LTT, but they were already booked.

Do you know if they seat until 6:00, or are only open until 6:00 and so the latest seating would be 5:00? KWIM?

I'm a travel agent (independent at home) and I just logged into the Disney TA site. They DO have MNSSHP listed on the calendar. Here are the dates listed...

Sep 29, Oct 2, 5, 6, 10, 16, 17, 23, 24, 26, 27, 30, 31.

It is a .pdf file. I saved it, so you can email me if you would like me to send it to you. Of course, everything is always subject to change. ;)

Thank you so much for sharing your information! There are a couple of days in October where the MK closes at 6pm, but are not listed as dates for MNSSHP. I guess those are always the dates that are subject to change. In the Disney TA site did they by chance say when they are going to be releasing these dates to the public?

No, it doesn't say when these dates will be released to the public. I'm hoping the 19th will appear at a party date, as that is the date I had planned on attending. If not, we can adjust our schedule accordingly. I can keep checking and post if/when I see any changes or additions, though.

Does MNSSHP usually sell out like MVMCP??

We may be going down for a convention w/my DH in early October..but it isn't definate if he is going, yet. He had one in Vegas a few weeks ago and they booked him out 2 weeks only. Not good for me, the planner!!

In the past the Castle, the Plaza, and Crystal Palace all took ADRs up until 6:00p and LTT was always open for the party (probably till 9:30p) and as of last year, they added Tony's too...also open during the party.

Usually only Halloween night and the party before Halloween sell out. Possibly the Friday before Halloween as well.

Last year Halloween didn't even sell out till September...so I think you have time to decide.

MNSSHP must be getting more popular...in 2003 we purchased Halloween night tickets the day before at guest services.

We went two years ago and we're going back this year - CAN'T WAIT!!!!!

It was a surprise for our two daughters who didn't even know this existed. I kept it from them for six months. I purchased the costumes, airline-timeshare-park tickets, everything undercover.
On the day we were leaving, I told them that morning that my sister was probably going to have her baby that day, and to be ready if I show up during school to pick them up so we can hurry up to the hospital for the birth. So we picked them up and they wanted to know how come we were driving to the airport - I told them we were picking up Aunt Genevieve, my other sister. They were all excited. Then I couldn't take it anymore so I told them where we were really going and my youngest didn't believe me, so I told her to take a look in the back seat at the luggage! She told me, Stop Lying, it's not nice! and I kept saying, no really, we're going down to Disney!!

The next day we showed up at MK around 3:30 and they saw all these signs advertising the party - so that was a surprise. But while eating dinner at 4:00 at the Crystal Palace, I showed them their costumes and we hurried to the bathroom and changed.
What an awesome experience. They loved it - We loved it.

This year it's another surprise, but I won't hold out that long. They're 12 and 13 now, so you know they've got to get all their own "stuff" together for the trip.

I tell everyone, MNSSHP was one of the bests nights of my whole life.

The Crystal Palace is one of my favorites, but we might try LTT this year. We also took our free photo, which we received about two months after the party. I purchased the purple castle frame with the ghost on it and proudly display it every fall. I also included our photo as part of my signature.
We received 2 photos even though we had four in the party. When you receive the photo in the mail, they give you the option to purchase more or a larger one. I think this year I will order the larger size.

We did not go crazy with everything. I had read these boards and posts about the party and learned to see the second parade, which is less crowded; to take your photos later in the night, again less crowded. The candy handout spots were in full view and really cool looking. We did not receive the plastic bags when we walked in the park because we came in at exactly 4:00 so I guess they didn't have them. After dinner we walked over to the town hall and the CM gave us 4 bags.

This year I also plan on shopping for the souvenier shirts and pins (which are only sold at the party) at the beginning of the night. The shops were jam packed when the park was closing.
Also, even if you're not a pin collector, you should still purchase the MNSSHP pin, it is really nice and they only sell them during the party.

The park was NOT AT ALL crowded. We went on the first Friday night (the second night of the party) and the only time I saw a crowd was during the parade and in the gift shops at the end of the night.

The whole mood is absolutely festive! I am telling you, if you are on the fence of whether or not to wear a costume WEAR ONE!! People were walking up to my husband taking photos with him. There were so many people wearing costumes. At first my husband said he felt funny wearing a costume, but then he saw some guy bigger than him dressed up as Peter Pan and he said, now I don't feel so bad :p

When I told him I wanted to go this year again, his first words were, what are we dressing up as? My husband is a real macho type of guy (not his words) and he said he was glad he got dressed up because it put him more in the mood and you feel more a part of the night.

Another thing - If you dress up, you will be impressing the most important people in your life, your kids. They'll think you're so awesome. That's the whole part of getting down to Disney, too....for your kids and making their experience one they will never forget
