We started out by calling WDW DINE on the way to WDW.
I wonder if they are still short handed due to the hurricane, as I waited the longest I ever have when calling DINE. Not terrible, but unusual.

I wanted Le Cellier. They were not accepting any PS' last night.
Next I asked for LTT. Their next available PS was 8 p.m. (It was around 5 and DH had not eaten much that day.)

I asked about Kona Cafe. They were only taking walk ups. We did not know if that was good or bad, but decided to drive there and try. And as usual now, it was raining, and had been for hours. :p

At Ohana's the line and wait looked horrible. For the brave at heart or not hungry only.

We were seated right away at Kona. ::yes:: :bounce:

Our CM server was Kawai. She was VERY good! ::yes:: If you have her, you can be rest assured you will be well taken care of. :teeth:

We had ice teas to drink. Nice big chucks of lemon. :)
Their bread is always good. But last night was exceptional. VERY fresh. Not warm. Just very good, light and tasty. (Although we had a chuckle later when we saw a little girl take a piece from their basket, crinkle her nose, smell it, lick the top, and make an Eowwww face. :jester: Not everyone's choice I guess. ;) :jester: )

DH started off with Kona Chowder - creamy bisque style with shrimp, fish and crabmeat $5.49. He said it was excellant. Lots of flavor and seafood chunks and peices.
The top was drizzled with an off white cream. He he thought it was horseradish.

I had:
Coconut Almond Chicken - sauteed chicken breast served with Asian greens tossed with honey lime dressing, golden pineapple, strawberries and toasted almonds $15.99.
It was so good. The chicken was tender, juicy, white meat breast, with coconut and almond slices baked on top.
The salad covered half the plate and was VERY good. Lots of strawberries and pineapple chucks. Just the right blend. Very refreshing from the heavy salads we usually eat.
I could not eat all I had.

DH ate ALL and did everything but lick his plate:
Char Crusted Filet Mignon - mashed yukon gold potatoes, asparagus and a 5-spice mushroom demi glace $24.99
And I tell ya -- after I saw it, I wish I had too. My meal hit the spot. But his looked so good.
DH raved and talked about that meal for hours. We always like Kiona Cafe and feel you can't go wrong, as long as you like that type of food.
But he was saying how exceptional his meal was that evening. He said it was the best Filet Mignon he had ever eaten.
He liked that he got a lot of potatoes. And even the mushroom and asparagus he mentioned how GOOD they were. "Awesome" was his wording.

No dessert. We were both too full! Although I was planning and hoping. ;) We just bought something else later.

The only downside I can say it was noisy in there last nght, between loud adults and kids having melt downs. But oh well...

Security gave us until 10:00 p.m. to park at the Poly. Then we hopped on the monorail and spent some time in MK. And the rain stopped just as we were waiting for the monorail!

:wave2: :thewave:

Thanks for the review! :D We had the best meal of our June trip at Kona Cafe.

Great review! You've totally convinced me to try Kona this next trip. That salad sounds awesome- I love salads with fruit in them. I had one with apples and plums, covered by an apple-cider vinegrette at Artist Point last time- also great.

Thanks!

Thanks so much for that review of Kona !!You had my mouth watering ::yes::

We are giving it a try for the first time soon. After reading all of the fabulous reviews, how could we not go?
