We will be at Disney soon and DD is wanting her Senior Pictures taken while we are there. I looked into the Disney private photography, the mini package. I then thought about MM. The cost is about the same with the advantage of MM is that we can all be in some of the pictures and we can have some taken in the parks. Any thoughts between the two?

A mini session will be just with her, and at a resort vs in the parks. With MM you are more rushed, and since it is during your day, more casual. Something to remember about both is that the photos are not edited, so the lose that professional touch. There was another thread recently about this, a d there are some private photographers you can hire that are able to do professional sessions on Disney property and in the parks. You get both their expertise and their eye. Making for better pictures.

The Photopass photographers may or may not be well versed in photography. So the photos may or may not be awesome. The private session would be done by the same photographers that Disney uses in house for weddings, but your locations are usually in the resorts. Some of the portfolio of their senior photos is in park, no idea if that has an extra cost or how that was worked out. If its in the resort, the photo may not be readily identifiable as "Disney", while something done by Photopass in park could have the castle in the background. If you want the icons I'd suggest looking at it more as a possible perk in addition to getting ride photos rather than the driving purpose behind buying MM. I would suggest stopping multiple times with multiple photographers and checking the pictures before you leave (especially if she is wearing a particular outfit) to make sure you actually get a good photo. And don't be afraid to ask the photographer to take extra pictures.

I wouldn't rely on MM for senior pictures. The photopass photographers are hit or miss. Most aren't professional photographers just placed in the parks by Disney with a DSLR on auto, which is fine to capture your vacation memories, but I would probably want a little more out of senior pictures. Disney private photography is professional photographers, but it is a expensive for what you get and the mini package is pretty short and only offered unedited photos.

Someone else mentioned a professional photographer in the Orlando area. We have done that in the past on several trips. We use Jen Stevenson Photo. www.jenstevensonphoto.com She does excellent work. However, private photographers are only allowed to shoot at the resorts. They are not allowed to go into the parks generally. I think there are a few that do have special permission, which I have seen on here. I don't remember who they are, but you can probably find that thread on here.

These will not be her only senior pictures. We plan to have a regular photographer take some at home. She just wanted a couple that were Disney.

Then I'd plan on having her wear a cute outfit one day, and just grabbing a bunch of solo pictures at the parks through Photopass. Especially if you had interest in ride/other Photopass photos.

My niece had some pictures taken at the Beach Club Resort the Summer before her Senior Year with the Mini Session. We had also purchased Memory Maker for that trip. We only found a couple of good enough photos with the memory maker, due to the locations the pictures were taken. For example, the rose garden at the MK by the castle was a picture with no people, as well as the bridge in France and the we were able to edit people out of the Fountain by Epcot. However, the pictures from her photo session at the Beach Club were amazing. Waaay too many choices and they did several of her parents and her with her parents. It was unbelievable how many pictures you got in the mini session. Inside the Beach Club Hotel is a photopass desk, where they briefly reviewed the session pictures right away. The picture she ended up using was taken in a place at the Beach Club that we didn't know existed and was the first time the photographer had ever used that spot!
