MLK weekend vs early christmas week

With 3 kids (one in HS) we have to vacation during school breaks. This year we have a 4 day weekend for MLK.

Yesterday I got an email with a 40% discount on rooms (although MLK weekend was blacked out ) so my DH and I thought we might try Dec 22-25 instead.

The costs really wouldn't be that different, but it made us think that a weekend trip might be crazy with school the day before and the day after.

I'm wondering how much different the crowd level is for MLK or Christmas.

We were in Disney over Thanksgiving in 2011 and only one day at MK was super crazy, so we can handle some level of crowded.

Early Christmas week iss very busy, but nowhere NEAR the insanity that Dec 25th -early Jan will be.If you are staying onsite that will help tremendously

christmas and christmas eve ARE A LOT busier than mlk weekend is.the rest of your days sholude be fine.
