MLB Opening Day

Yeah, now the Europeans and Asians are getting onto basketball though. I think the NFL will be American dominated for a looooong time.

My #1 NBA prospect for the upcoming draft is from Spain [Ricky Rubio]. BTW, if you haven't noticed, I love scouting future players more than I do current ones, lol.

They will be great, if the prospects pan out. Some just fade once they get to higher levels on the farm. But I agree, not saying the Big Red Machine is coming back, but they'll win their division I think for years to come.

Yeah, the great part is, we have plenty of guys who, while not as potentially good, can still fill a void. Plus, you have to factor in that roster doesn't include FA either. It could be a lot better with FA, but it could also downgrade if a good amount of them don't pan out. The only position I'm worried for is 2B, SP, & SS. 2B and SS because we don't have too many guys there, so if Phillips goes down we're screwed and if Frazier or Valaika don't pan out, we don't have any future plan at SS. Everyone always has to be worried about SP, because they're the ones that most easily bust.

I don't know about that...The Brewers have great young talent now, and if they keep most of the players, they could be the most dominant of the NL. They only need to get their rotation steady.

The Brewers are talented, but it all boils down to who's in the farm system. And quite frankly, there's only one player left that really shines to me. That's Jeremy Jeffress. He has true Ace potential, but he's very raw and might take a while to get into the major leagues. The thing I don't like about the Brewers farm system is their lack of focus on defense. LaPorta [even though he was traded], Braun, and Gamel are all poor defensive players. And your other top position player other than Gamel, Brett Lawrie is also terrible at defense. The Brewers cannot continue to rely on their bats to win games and hope their defense doesn't have to make plays.

Yeah, I think the potential SP problem will not be an issue by then because they have so many great prospects that they could trade for another ace pitcher.

Where's Adrian Gonzalez in the All-Star voting!!! He's tied for first in the MLB for home runs! It's just a popularity contest.:sad1:

It is a popularity contest. It's who the fans want to see play. The managers choose the reserve players based on skill... the starting lineups are simply who the fans want to see

Wow I havent been on in a week

Yankees are in first palce and ummmmmm well the mets could have had a better week HAHA

Yes! Yes! Yes! The 1st year player draft is tomorrow!!!! Hope the Padres don't waste their pick at #3.:cool1:

I'm hoping the Reds land RHP Aaron Crow. I wanted us to grab him last year, but we didn't and he never signed, so he's now avaliable again.

Looks like Crow just went to the Royals. Padres got Donovan Tate. I'm pretty happy...that is if we can sign him.

Tate's going to be a stud. I'm in complete love with his abilities. I really think all the top three picks are going to be easy All-Stars.

I was somewhat satisfied with the Reds' selectios. I wasn't expecting Leake to be taken, especially with Matzek still on the board. The Reds' biggest need was easily a LHP to me, but they took a RHP, who I felt was a lesser prospect. However, I'm not paid to do their job, so they're knowledge far outweighs mine, so I'm just happy we got a pitcher. Plus, we prefer college players over HS, as we love guys who have a higher chance to sign.

Other than the first round, I was pleased with the rest of the draft, save for our first round pick compensation. I thought no question it should have been Scheppers. His injury history is a little frightening, but he was the far superior prospect to Boxberger. I see Boxberger as a potential starting pitcher, who'll probably do much better in long relief. Bashore would have been a sweet pick there.. I was glad to see Indiana have three guys go in the top 50, considering before this draft only two ever had gone there from IU and we were the only school to have three guys in the top 50.

The Reds did very well in the other rounds and did just as they were expected to do; load up on pitching, catching, and middle infielders. We also drafted a kid named Tucker Barnhart, who I was able to see play this year in HS. Hopefully he'll sign instead of going to college.

Giants got Zack Wheeler at #6. Raw talent right there. if he develops in about 5-6 years and we bring up madison bumgardner from the minors and we keep Cain and Lincecum, the giants will have a pretty decent pitching staff. Now only if our offense could score more than 3 to 4 runs a game.

White Sox fan here, it does not look like their year(oh well 2005 is still fresh in my memory). :worship:

So I am rooting for the Brewers, the Cardinals, and the Dodgers(cant root for another A.L. team).

Cardinals lost 5 in a row and still are 2.5 or 1.5 back depending how milwauke did

GO CARDINALS

Oh never mind that last post the Cardinals are .5 games behind according to mlb.com

But still GO CARDINALS

Last night's game was AWESOME:cool1: hahaha

I got so ticked in the 8th inning when Mo gave up that run but thank god k-rod isnt as good as everyone thinks and the Mets cant catch fly balls:rotfl2:

i'm pissed, but am also pissed at A-Roid and how he thinks hes like a hero.

Joba sucked last night.
Yanks bullpen sucked last night.

Whatever.
