MK TS choices are terrible!

My husband and I are going to WDW from Jan 24-31, 2016. My plan was to only schedule a few ADRs that we really wanted to do and then do CS for the rest of the trip or last minute ADRs. I figured then we could save money. My husband has now told me he wants to have one TS for dinner each night…I just can't decide where to eat because I can't really decide where we will be. My tentative plan is:

24th (land around noon) - MK for the evening
25th - HS with ADR at Sci-Fi
26th -MK BOG lunch and Narcoossee's ADR
27th - EP Garden Grill ADR
28th - MK
29th - AK with Dinner reservations at T-Rex (my husband has never been to a Rainforest Cafe)
30th - EP
31st - go home :(

My concern is usually I like to end my tip with MK but MK is not a recommended park that day. Also, I have two open MK days that need ADR and I'm not sure what to fill them with. If the new MK restaurant is open by the time we go, I will try to get an ADR for that. Getting another ADR for EP won't take too much thought. But I have two MK days without TS and I'm not sure what to add. We aren't fancy eaters. We didn't care for BOG when we ate dinner there a couple years ago (and I'll probably cancel BOG lunch). I thought of LTT but I thought that may be too similar to GG and my husband specifically asked for GG. So, now I'm stuck with what to do at MK. I thought of booking something at another park since we will have park hoppers. I thought of 'Ohana but there have been some bad reviews recently and I just am not that interested in 'Ohana. I like unique restaurant experiences (like Sci-fi) and reasonably priced…well Disney reasonably priced…food. I just can't pick the two other restaurants which is stressing me out. Also we are staying at POP so TS at hotel is not an option.

I agree with the choices in MK but we always do a sit down lunch at the Plaza Restaurant - nice break and not much more expensive than counter service. My favorite CS is Columbia Harbor House shrimp platter - can beat it for the price. For a more substantial meal we take the monorail to Grand Floridian Café.

I actually added Whispering Canyon for one of the MK days. The last MK day is where I'm having trouble because I want to be able to make the night parade and Wishes which means we have to eat early and in the park. I unhappily booked LTT right now. If we didn't have GG then I would be happy with LTT but right now it is GG then LTT and that is too much of the same. Maybe I'll keep an eye out for an early BOG dinner even though we weren't wow'd with it last time, maybe this time will be different.

You migh want to consider Yak and Yeti for AK day. IMHO the food is much better and the environment is in tune with the park. Kona might fit your last Amk day but I wouldn't give up on LTT unless you hate it since it's coming off of a refurb.

Dinner on my 2 MK days is going to be Whispering Canyon and Spirit of Aloha. I found the choices were more appealing for us if I looked outside the park. Have you considered a late lunch or a hearty snack to tide you over to a post-parade dinner? Split a turkey leg or a pork shank in the afternoon and an 8:30 dinner sounds just about right. :)

The Wave at the Contemporary would be a relatively quick walk from MK. I thought the food was delicious, and although it isn't much of an "experience" in terms of theming, I liked the calm atmosphere...a bit of a break from the crowds at the parks.

I'd go with The Plaza for convenience and price. It's our first TS of our trip in March. Looking forward to it.

We had dinner at the Plaza last Sunday and it was very good, the meatloaf plate was very good and the piece of meatloaf was HUGE. Would your husband consider lunch at LTT then quick service for supper, unless things change when LTT reopens the lunch menu is different than dinner, I agree it is similar to GG so I can see why you wouldn't want to eat at both locations.

What about booking a late lunch at LTT instead of dinner? That way it won't be family style (since you are already getting that at Garden Grill and Whispering Canyon). And it is the only way to get Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake for dessert. As long as the menu does not change upon re-opening!

LTT is very good for lunch or we like a late lunch at Kona, nice and quiet and a short monorail ride from the park and back for the MK evening activities.

I'd do lunch but my husband was dead set against big lunches…If he wasn't just tolerating Disney for me then I wouldn't care what his thoughts were but I'm trying to make the trip enjoyable for him too. I'm hoping if the new TS restaurant opens then we can switch LTT to that restaurant. I thought of doing the Plaza but then changed my mind so maybe the Plaza will be instead of LTT if the new restaurant isn't opened or if I can't get an ADR.
