MK Train Down and Welcome Show

It looks like MK's train will be down for a refurb for part of Oct and Nov. Does anyone know how/will this affect the Welcome Show?

There are lots of different versions of the show.
Without the train, they change how, which of (or IF) the characters appear.

I wonder if they will still do the song they sing about the Train coming-I guess that will have to go during the refurb.

They don't.

There have been other periods of time when they have not had the steam trains available for the Welcome.

We were there during the train refurb a couple years ago. They still did the show up on the platform. The only thing I didn't like was that it was a little hard to see because they had scrim fabric over the fence at the top of the platform and so you could only see the performers over the top of the fence instead of also through the rails of the fence.

I don't really remember anything specific being left out, just that the characters were harder to see.

You can youtube it. I just did and saw the version without the train. It was still cute, but I will miss the train!

Yea there's different versions, and even when the train isn't down for a refurb, sometimes they don't use it.

Most of the time when they don't use the train the characters just walk out onto the platform to greet everyone. Sometimes there are no characters, sometimes there's not a family picked to join in, sometimes there's not a welcome show, and sometimes you get the full thing. Just all depends.

I had been so disappointed when this was rumored months ago for refurb starting Sept 28-, as we love riding the train. So I had been trying to get used to the idea of it being down, and now I'm sooooo happy it's not starting until Oct 12th. My Mom will be thrilled, she was disappointed when I had told her that it might be down while we were there.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! I also thought it was going to be down while we were there at the end of September/early October. We love the opening show. This is great news! A must do for us.

Looking on the site today, I saw that there are no times scheduled for the Welcome Show past July 25th. Do they not post houre more than 3 weeks out or is the refurb starting early? Hope not-- I was trying to put it in the plans for our Aug trip!

Pay no attention to "advanced listings" for things like the Welcome show.
The "official" listings are notoriously (and shamefully) unreliable.

We were there last year during the train refurb. They still did the welcome show. A ton of characters came out on the platform, but I guess they did just walk out from the back and didn't arrive by train. I didn't really notice that part even though we've seen it before with the train.

Where did you read this?! I was also disappointing we'd be there during the train closure - if it doesn't start until Oct 12 I will be VERY happy!
