How long will it take using the monorail to get from MK to Grand Floridian? Also, what's the average wait to board the monorail?

If you take the monorail from MK, it will make stops at the Contemporary, TTC, and Polynesian before arriving at the GF. That will likely take 15-20 minutes once you board the monorail, depending on whether or not there are any traffic holds on the line and how long you sit at each station. It's usually faster to take the boat launch, unless you see the boat just pulling away from the dock as you approach.

The resort monorail runs pretty regularly - I doubt I've ever waited more than 10 minutes for it at the MK station, but if you assume 20 minutes between trains, you'll be safe.

I totally agree. If the boat is either just getting there or filling up when you leave MK, it should take you 5 minutes to get to the GF. When we stay at the GF we take the monorail to MK and usually take the boat back (unless as the previous poster said...it is just pulling away)

If the boat is still there I would take it, however if you just missed it I would then take the Resort Monorail because another one will show up a lot faster then the next boat would.

Closer to 25 mins. And that's without any unforeseen issues cropping up. And you could have to wait for a monorail to come in, but I don't think I've ever waited much more than 10 mins.
The boat is a nice alternative..takes much less time especially if the boat is there, loading and there you see the monorail over at the Polynesian!

It is a longer walk than from the monorail area. BUT..it is a nice walk, and it should take about 3-5 mins..not a big deal.
