MK Swan Boat dock gone (photos)

Ugh! OK, has anyone been just recently? Is the construction overwhelming at MK between the hub and then the Mine Train? I finally convince my husband to return with us (he hasn't been in about 5 years) and he gets FP+ and construction. He is going to think I am crazy for loving Disney! :scared:

I first started going to WDW around 1977-78. I see that the closing was 1983, but I don't recall ever seeing the ride open/functioning during any of my visits.

Anybody here experience the Swan Boats from the late 70s to the early 80s?
What happened on the Swan Boats? Where did the boats go? :earsboy:

Holy moley. This is kinda depressing. We r taking my neighbors for the first time in April and this is what they r going to see in mk. At first I wasn't thinking anything about the moats being empty, but after looking at thos pics it looks really diff around the hub. Kinda feel sad for them. We are here 3 times a year so no big deal for us but this kinda is a downer for them. Looks like they will have to come back soon! Lol. Hopefully we can get em hooked! They know we r nuts already and that's good thing! Lol

Sad! we used that location to connect with friends and watch fireworks numerous times (or at least wait on the benches for the fireworks to start).

Someone need to tell the imagineers about resting space. This is a visual concept. The mind-eye needs a place to rest.

If I am going to spend anytime in these parks I need a "timeout" place. Where is this going to be?

Load to capacity, load to capacity, load to capacity...

No thanks.

I am so depressed over all these changes. Have been going since 1975. I understand that things have to change but I don't have to like them.

Gone will be anything related to landscaping aesthetic. It seems to be turning into urban parking lot blight!

wait, is this that sweet, quiet little section of the park, when you exit Tomorrowland(headache inducing noise) and see a pretty rose garden, and a winding path, and benches to relax and enjoy the view?!?!?! AUGHGHGHGH:scared1: No!!!!!!!:worried:
I hope they intend to rpelace it with something equally pretty and relaxing.... and in the meanwhile, BUMMER for all those visitors coming in right now..."testing" the new FP+ system, and being privileged to pay 100.00 per day to experience all this construction, confusion, and ugliness!:sad2::guilty:
Shame on Disney.

Shame on Disney.

It's being replaced with concrete.

This change is part of the expansion of the HUB to give guests more space to view the shows, parades, and fireworks. I think this is a good expansion considering we aren't losing any attractions. This really utilizes unused space. However, I understand the concerns with so much construction. It never seems to end...which may be an alright thing.

WOW! That swan boat ride looks about as exciting as the people mover!

Don't knock it! Maybe you haven't been around long enough to remember them? :confused3

:thumbsup2 I feel your pain, my sentiments exactly! Have been going since '72, just told my dh about this 'latest' fiasco, and we both agreed that they're destroying all the beautiful landscaping to cram in more people for the $$$'s. There have been more 'negative' changes (to us) in the last year than all our other years of going (nearly since opening) put together. We've both just about had it - will just keep our memories. :sad2:

Sadly, you are so right!

We are getting ready to leave and I am trying to be as positive as possible but yikes! Hopefully we can somehow turn a blind eye to the construction. On the other hand it might be fun to take a whole bunch of pictures in front of the castle with the crane, the construction at the hub, the scrims, the walls at 7DMT, the construction at the Poly, long lines, grumpy faces on guests and CM's and try to make a whole tongue in cheek photo book of a Disney "experience". I wonder if we could somehow make it into something fun. Lol.
