We're going in October with our 3.5 year old son. We're going to get there at park opening and hit Fantasyland first. Probably Pooh first, then Dumbo, then the rest.

I haven't been to Disney in over 5 years and they didn't have FP then. Anyone want to share a good FP strategy? My son is tall enough for Splash, so we'll need it for that. Also, for Buzz. He's not ready for Space Mt but my DH and I will use FP and child swap for that.

Here's what I'm thinking:
While DH and my son are on one of the Fantasyland rides, I can run to Splash and grab that FP. Then, by the time we're done with Fantasyland, we can head to Adventure & Frontierland and our Splash FP will be ready.

Then, before we grab lunch, I'll run to Tomorrowland and grab the two FP's over there. Then, after a late lunch (we do a morning snack) we can head to Tomorrowland and use those.

Does that work? Any thoughts on the plan? Are you allowed to have two FP's at one time? (Buzz & Space Mt)

What's the usual wait time? For instance, if I grab a FP at noon, will it usually be for 2pm?

I'm not too sure about the fastpass time frame. I'm sure someone will give you advice on that. But if I were you, I'd go to Dumbo first then Pooh.
The Pooh ride is continuous (cars continually come around and people load and off-load.) The ride doesn't really stop. With Dumbo, only a certain number are loaded and you have to wait for the ride to end before people get off and new people get loaded on. Much more time consuming.
Or you could grab fastpasses for Pooh, then get on Dumbo and return to Pooh, so if there is a line, you can use your FP to avoid the wait.

You have to wait an hour (I think maybe longer) before getting a second fast pass, unless the fp time is less (so if you fp time was 30 minutes later you could get a second one in 30 minutes, but if the fp time is 3 hours later you could get a second one in 60 minutes.)

As for how long until the return time, that all depends on how busy the park is. The more people getting fp's the longer the wait will be. I've had it be 30 minutes and I've had it be several hours.

I think your FP will tell you at the bottom when you are allowed to get another FP. Oct might be relatively slow so hopefully your lines won't be too long. I would run to Pooh & get a FP & then go to Dumbo (better yet, have DH or you go to Dumbo to get in line & the other person get the FP while your place is being held in line. Then hit Tea Cups, Pooh & Snow White. Grab a FP for PP & hit IASW & Philharmagic (about 15 minute wait if the show b4 you just started but the theater is large) & then PP. Personally I think the carrousel is boring but your 3.5 yr old may like it. Just depends on the wait! Instead of going to the other side of the park, I would then hit Toontown & Tomorrowland. Grab a FP for Space Mtn & hit Buzz (we went in Sept & no waiting, FP machine was not even on), TTA (relaxing) & maybe Astro Orbiter. Maybe Indy cars but lines are alwasy long & the exhaust smell is disgusting, I would skip it plus this kind of thing is available at any old amusement park. Eat lunch in Tomorrowland or:
Goto the other side (maybe even take the train from Toontown over to Frontierland for a break). Grab a FP for Splash or BTMRR. If you did not eat lunch in Tomorrowland eat at Pecos BIlls - great fixin's bar!! Go over to PotC, Aladdin & Jungle Cruise in Adventureland while you wait for FP time. Then hit which ever one you got the FP for & get a FP for the other one. If your ds will do it, run over to LS for HM (not too scary). Maybe Riverboat if you need a break. Then go back & hit either Splash or BTMRR (whichever you have the FP). If it is not time for your FP you can do Country Bear Jamboree.
You may be able to hit the parade if you time it just right since it goes thru Frontierland!! Not as crowded there as it is on Main St!
Then take the train back to Main St & go home!!!
Have fun!
