MK - Skip-able Rides?

I think all of your list is skippable, except I wouldn't skip Philharmagic or Pooh.
I would add Carosel of Progress to the skippable list, it takes a decent amount of time, and unless you are really a fan of the classics, it is pretty boring for the average guest. (Yes, I know some people love it, but that's my personal opinion).

I agree. I love CofP but if I have one day and a 5 YO, it would be off my list. I would add Monsters Inc, Philharmagic and Pooh. Barnstormer as well if the line was not too long.

I looked at the list though my DGD eyes when she was that age and the attractins she loved were on that skip list. She loved Teacups, Aladdin, Speedway. Barnstormer, People Mover, Philharmagic, and would have fallen asleep in Presidents. Basically if we stayed in Fantasyland and Adventureland, she woudl have been happy.

A huge thank you to everyone who to the time to respond! You all have been so helpful and I truly appreciate your feedback!

I've decided not to skip Monster's, Inc. Laugh Floor, Mickey's PhilharMagic and Dumbo for the sake of my little one and Disney classics.

I'm definitely going to try to squeeze in some of these as long as time allows it and FP+ are available.

Looks like I'll be leaving out -
Tomorrowland Speedway
Riverboat
The Magic Carpets of Aladdin
Tom Sawyer Island
Swiss Family Treehouse
The Hall of Presidents
The Barnstormer
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
Mad Tea Party (classic but we've been on before.)
Astro Orbiter
The Carousel of Progress

Is your little one not a Pooh fan? If not, that may not be a big deal, but I love the ride (and I'm 44! LOL). It's easy to get a FastPass on the fly for it after your others, though I will add that the queue is a veritable playground where the kids can run around playing on all of the interactive stuff while the line winds through. Just something to think about.

Skip list does look good...but like others have said, especially with a 5 yo, I would still do Philharmagic and Monster's Inc. Laugh Floor. We do this multiple times as well and always have a good time. Also, I would do Tomorrowland Speedway one last time for nostalgia as it will be permanently closing at some point this year to help make way for Tron coaster. I am all about making sure we see/ride attractions one last time before they close so we have that memory and I know my kid didn't miss out on any Magic :tinker:

The last I heard, the Speedway was NOT closing for Tron. Maybe I missed an update, but Tron was going to be built in free space between/behind Space and the Speedway.

Speedway is not permanently closing. It will likely close temporarily/go through a refurb while construction is going on in the area though. But definitely not closing forever.

We skip everything you have listed except Mickeys Philharmagic. It's a must do for us!

I copied your list of potential skips, and here are my opinions on them:

Tomorrowland Speedway—The 5 year-old will like it, but I would skip it if the line is long, and it probably will be.

Stitch's Great Escape—Completely skippable and may be closed when you’re there anyhow. It’s open “seasonally” and was closed during my trip.

Riverboat—Easy skip.

The Magic Carpets of Aladdin—Basically the same ride as Dumbo and Astro Orbiter. Pick one of these three.

Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor—This is a good place to get off your feet and into some air-conditioning.

Tom Sawyer Island—Totally skippable

Swiss Family Treehouse—Ditto

The Barnstormer—If you can do it without a huge line, it’s worth doing.

The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh—I never skip this attraction. I love it.

The Hall of Presidents—I just saw it and was very impressed with updates they’ve made to the show.

Mickey's PhilharMagic—Like Winnie the Pooh, I never miss this one.

Astro Orbiter—See comments above on Flying Carpets

Dumbo the Flying Elephant (classic but we've been on before.)—Ditto

Mad Tea Party (classic but we've been on before.)—Easy skip. Barf-O-Matic.

Im considering the 5yo the most...

Tomorrowland Speedway --5 year old would probably love this. only skip if wait is long, which sometimes it is...
Stitch's Great Escape --SKIP worst attraction ever. ever.
Riverboat --SKIP takes too much time
The Magic Carpets of Aladdin --Fun!
Monter's, Inc. Laugh Floor --eh. some people like it
Tom Sawyer Island --SKIP too much time-- and you have to take this float thing out to the island so you may feel trapped if you are crunched for time.
Swiss Family Treehouse--SKIP too much time
The Barnstormer --Fun!
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh-- Fun!
The Hall of Presidents --SKIP unless the 5yo is napping. Adults would like it.
Mickey's PhilharMagic --ok if you need to kill time
Astro Orbiter --SKIP line moves slowly and it's a very quick ride
Dumbo the Flying Elephant (classic but we've been on before.)-- fun
Mad Tea Party (classic but we've been on before.) --fun

btw you left out the best ride of all time PeopleMover aka Tomorrowland Transportation Authority. Good for a nice rest, fun during fireworks, line moves quickly, semi-cooling.

DH thinks everything in MK is skippable. ;)

Our kids were around that age when we took our first trip. I would not skip:

Tomorrowland Speedway
Aladdin
It's a Small World
Pooh
Mad Tea Party
Dumbo
Philharmagic
Astro Orbiter
Barnstormer

IMO these are the only 10 I would ever recommend people skipping, ranked in terms of enjoyment.
  1. The Enchanted Tiki Room - If you care about Disney history and Walt's contributions to the park then this is essential. If not then you can easily skip it.
  2. Under the Sea: Voyage of the Little Mermaid - Excellent queue, forgettable ride.
  3. Hall of Presidents - My opinion might have been a little different a couple years ago...
  4. Stitch’s Great Escape - Bad but not AS bad as people say.
  5. Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor - Incredibly boring. Maybe worth one visit only because Monsters Inc. is so good.
  6. Dumbo/Magic Carpets/Astro Orbiter
  7. Tom Sawyer Island
  8. Swiss Family Treehouse
  9. Mad Tea Party
  10. Tomorrowland Speedway - Avoid at all costs.

I didn't see Peter Pan's Flight mentioned. I would try to get a FP for that if you want to ride it. The line always seems so long. I know the queue is interactive but haven't personally been through it.

I have been through the Winnie the Pooh queue and it is really fun for little kids! The whole line is basically a playground. I wouldn't Fastpass this with a five year old. There's too much to do in line!

Riverboat/COP/Laugh Floor are worth your time if you want to rest your feet. Otherwise, I would skip.

I'd still do Winnie the Pooh and Philliharmagic! I'd skip Country Bear Jamboree, Tiki Room (cute, but a bit outdated for a 5yo), A Pirate's Adventure, Prince Charming Carousel, Carousel of Progress as well as the other ones you mentioned.

As you can see from the widely varied responses, this is a very subjective question. I personally would have no heartburn over skipping barnstormer. My daughter likes it okay when she was 2, by age 3 she was bored with it. At age 5 she was going on RnR and would be completely bored by the Barnstormer. Meanwhile, we skipped CoP on our first several trips bc I thought she would be bored with it. We took her on it our last trip when she was 5 and she said it was her favorite thing from the whole trip, except for maybe FoP. Go figure.

As others have said, you're going to get subjective answers based on our opinions. Personally, I think PhillharMagic is one of the best attractions at MK. Sure, there's nothing "thrilling" about it, but it's very well done and it's inside.

Your little one may enjoy the Carpets of Aladdin because of the spitting camel?

Winnie the Pooh is fun, whimsical, and bouncy. Your 5 year old may enjoy it.

As others have said, some of these on your skip list have really low wait times and it at be possible to add a few if you have time.

I am so glad to hear that you have decided not to skip Philharmagic. It is one of my favorite attactions at MK, and I think that your entire party will enjoy it! I thoroughly enjoy watching the little ones reach for the screen.

If you can, I would try to fit in Tomorrowland Speedway and Barnstormer for your 5 year old. If you hit up Fantasyland at opening, Barnstormer is literally walk on for the first hour or so that the park is open. Tomorrowland Speedway is not worth a long wait, but I think that the five year old would thoroughly enjoy it.

I copied your list of potential skips, and here are my opinions on them:

100% agree with all of the above. The only reason to ride the teacups is for the photo op!

I wouldn't skip Pooh. Its such a lovely little ride, and usually an easy 4th+ fastpass to grab.
