hi
We will be in Florida for a weekend on June
We are going to do a single day in MK
Given the choice between Saturday with BOG PPO reservation or Sunday that has EMM (which we will not be attending), which one would you pick?
Opening hours are 9-22 for both
We are two adults and will likely not get a FastPass for Peter Pan or SDMT as we are staying offsite
And if you suggest Sunday, would you still do PPO BOG even with EMM?

I would do the BOG PPO on Saturday if you are not attending EMM. There is always a chance that they change the June hours to have the park open earlier than the current posted time—if that happens your PPO advantage would be gone. I think they should update June hours within the next few days though

And the fact that Saturday is usually busier than Sunday does not cancel the advantage we get from BOG?

The busier than Sunday is probably negligible. Do you already have your ADR? If not, I'd go with the one I could get and if I couldn't get one, I'd flip a coin.

Surprisingly I was able to get both (8:25 saturday and 8:15 Sunday) even though we decided on our trip yesterday!!!

Our initial rope drop strategy was to go in Frontierland and get BTM and splash then pirates before the crowds get too big
Should we aim for Peter pan or SMDT if we want to do that or can we do both?

In my experience, crowds on Saturday are the worst of the week and much worse than Sunday. I would never go to the MK on Saturday if I had a choice.

We’ve never done a PPO breakfast so I’m not sure if they hold you back until the rope droppers arrive. If they do I would go with Sunday. The amount of people doing EMM is virtually negligible once the park opens and having EMM scheduled for Sunday means the park’s hours are set in stone, so there is still an advantage to a PPO reservation. As a PP stated, they may change to an 8:00 opening on Saturday which would make your PPO reservation moot.

With a PPO at BoG, they'll let you line up for either PP or 7DMT and MAY let you get a ride in on 7DMT before the rope drop crowds arrive. You get no advantage for Frontierland with your PPO breakfast; they will hold you in Fantasyland until the ropes drop, so you may end up behind those who head there from the hub.

Yes, we lined up for 7DMT around 845 for a 9 am opening. It was an early morning magic day, so they walked us to the ride about 2-3 minutes before 9. We were off the ride in 10 minutes (most of that was just walking through the queue)—by the time we were walking out the rope drop crowd was there in full force and the wait was over 60 min

does it make a difference what weekend it is in terms or Saturday vs Sunday crowds?
We are planning to go on the weekend of the 22-23 so right when school ends so possibly more people beginning their vacation on the Sunday???
Sorry about all the questions, I am new to this and I have been following the DIS for a little while and I am impressed by the level of knowledge!

Go with Sunday. Since you are served in the order you arrive, arrive early. Eat breakfast, and then get in line for 7DMT. Should get to ride before the masses arrive. Then head over to PP, and then over to Frontier Land.

We were just there on a Sat and Sun. We did our BOG PPO on Sun (also an EMM day). Go with Sun. Yes it is less busy than Sat (there is a very detailed data driven post on that a month or two back on easyWDW). You will likely (but are not guaranteed on either day) get one ride on either 7DMT or PPF before the rope drop crowd arrives. If you have a PPO on a day with EMM it is far less likely that park hours will change to 8. Sat being a busy day is one that often does have park hours change even during less busy times (they changed in May but Sun did not).

The only benefit that Sat would have over Sun would be that sometimes people report getting 2 rides in on 7DMT on non EMM days.

You can head over to Frontierland after riding 7DMT or PPF and still have very low waits. Whether you can do both depends on how fast the lines grow at PPF. Do 7DMT first. If they let you in a little early and the crowds aren't bad you might get on PPF with a reasonable wait. But you might not (it didn't work for us 2 years ago and we didn't try this year). If the wait is over 15 or 20 mins you're probably better off heading to Frontierland unless PPF is more important to you.

If Sunday is a paid hard ticketed EMM day they will line you up and hold you until 9AM until the event ends to ride. People paid money for the EMM event and it’s unfair to let others ride during the event who didn’t pay. You receive an armband that is checked prior to riding.

If we are driving, what time does the ferry and monorail begin? I am worried that we won’t be able to be at the gates at 7:30...
Is it safer to take a Uber to the contemporary and walk to MK?

Now that we know park hours have been extended from 9-11PM on the Saturday, do you think it will be better in terms of crowds or will it make it worse? (we are planning to do rope drop then midday break and come back for the evening)

Actually, they’ll hold you until they open for regular day guests. The OP will still get an advantage over regular park guests.
