Been to Disneyworld numerous times but for some reason have never made the rope drop at MK. Can someone tell me what is done during or just before the rope drop that my family should be seeing?

There is a short welcoming show that starts about 15 minutes before scheduled park opening. There are three different shows of varying lengths. Usually the train arrives with some CMs. It is the only time the train is centered at the entrance. (The train will be going through refurb this Fall and will not be part of the show.) There is a welcome song, characters and Mickey welcomes the guests to the park. A family of the day is introduced.

It's not mind blowing but it is cute and prepares you for the mobs rushing to Seven Dwarves and A&E.

I'm sure there are a number of You Tube videos.

Agree with Hootch. It's nice and we have seen it a few times. Not necessarily because we want to see the show, but because we want to maximize our time at the park. It's still a nice show either way and I think it's definitely worth seeing at least once.

We (well me and my eldest DD) have also had the joy of being at rope drop at Epcot. It was also a nice show as well. They let us in a bit further in the park (just beyond Spaceship earth as I recall). We were more focused to making a "Dash" to Soaring at that time.

Never been to Rope Drop at Hollywood Studios or Animal Kingdom though.

My son and I enjoy the rope drop ceremony at Magic Kingdom. The train pulls up overhead with Mickey and the gang onboard. Mickey & pals, plus some princesses and other characters, then stand up and sing the happy welcome song, "Good Morning, Good morning..." The ceremony ends with a few pretty fireworks being set off. It's a lovely way to start the morning at MK, especially if it's your first time ever or at least your first MK visit of this trip. But at any time, it's enjoyable. It puts you in a "magic" frame of mind.

I agree with others about the MK opening show. It's a cute show and worth seeing at least once. It sets the tone for the day at Magic Kingdom.

I am very familiar with the Rope Drop show...We were in it last month!!!We were chosen as the First Family...it was AMAZING:)
I agree with everyone else, the rope drop show starts the day off perfectly, and being able to walk on most of the rides for awhile is fantastic.

How, may I ask, did you get chosen, you lucky Pluto you! Very jealous! It must have been a blast!
