Many, many years ago we did the pre fireworks dessert party and enjoyed it enough that I am considering doing it again.

My issue is that it is expensive and I really don't know if I can afford it.
I'm looking at going on May 20th which is my 45th Birthday :)
It would be Myself, Hubby and our two kids (9 and 6)

How often do these sell out? When would I need to make a decision by?
The Aussie dollar is BAD at the moment so the $316 price tag is AU$498 so paying $500 to watch some fireworks with a few desserts is a heck of a lot of $$

These open 60 days prior EST (time in FL) so you could book at midnight tonight if going on your arrival day. Not sure how long they take to fill.

It’s personal choice but our family cannot justify the cost for a fireworks dessert party.

Yes I can book now
I’m more thinking about how quickly it sells out

We usually do these because the kids have trouble seeing anything and the parties usually have dedicated areas

Hi there! My family usually does the dessert party for the reasons you mentioned despite the high price tag. We just can’t enjoy the fireworks when we don’t, we have encountered so many rude people trying to cram in for spots when we don’t do the dessert party. It seems the party doesn’t sell out as quickly as it used to, but I would make a decision as soon as possible because you just don’t know when there will be no more spots for sale. We will be doing the pre dessert party in April, and I bought my spots as soon as the booking window opened up.

We have done the pre-party a few times.

For us, it's 100% for the dedicated viewing area. We detest the shoulder to shoulder pushing, pulling, crowding waiting for the show.

We really like many Disney dessert items at Table Service restaurants, the mass produced desserts at these 'dessert buffets', not so much.

I usually have a beer or 2, maybe a couple cheese and crackers and a chocolate dipped strawberry and that's about it. My wife will make a very small plate with a couple items. Then we head for the viewing area.

We have thought about the post-viewing party before, but, I know us, we'd most likely leave right after the show without even visiting the dessert trough.

I consider it a treat to have a place to sit an hour before the fireworks at a reserved table, handy to the restroom, great view with Tinkerbell flying right over my head. The desserts and wine are a bonus. It feels luxurious to fill a plate, or 2, with one of everything, sample it all, get seconds of the favorites, and have another glass of wine. Afterward to turn right into Tomorrowland for a leisurely walk through open pathways and a few rides, leaving after the masses on uncrowded transportation.

I did both the party and standing on Main Street my last solo trip to double-check the party advantage. The MS projections were meh, the view was worse, the crowds were impossible. Although thank you to the 2 lovely Canadian women who invited me to stand on the curb with them.

Yes, the dessert parties are expensive, especially for the food and drink options you get. But we really no longer enjoy the fireworks directly on Main Street - too crowded and often too rude, plus we end up standing there way too long waiting. With the pre-party, we sit and relax in the pavilion, get sugared up on some mediocre goodies, enjoy some cheese/crackers/drinks, and then venture out into the viewing area, where we sit until the show actually starts. The viewing area also gets crowded, but not the elbow-to-elbow of Main Street. So we'll do the pre-party now and then - certainly not every trip. And it's worth it for us to enjoy the fireworks and projections for a decent spot.

We do the post party and have done it the last 3 trips. I can only justify the cost because I have only gone with my daughter the last few trips. I don't think I can justify the cost for a family of 4. Paying for two isn't as bad.

My daughter is short and she gets really overwhelmed with the crowds on Main St and honestly so do I. We do it 100% for the viewing area. Last trip we didn't even stop in after and try any desserts. We waited out in the garden area and waited for the crowds to die down and then rode some rides.

Next trip we are doing the party on a EMH night so we will go in and have some desserts as the crowds die down and then hit the rides. I also didn't plan an ADR for this evening so we aren't stuffed.

I booked exactly at 60+1 and there were openings the week before. We are going mid May. I'm sure how fast they sell out depends on the time of year you are going.

That's the reason we wanted to do it, my kids both get really anxious in the crush of people and the youngest is so small she can't see anything and we just can't hold her up she's 6 but tiny and too heavy after about 5 mins.
We were looking at May 20

We are doing it May 14th!

I 100% recommend doing seats and sweets if you don’t like the crowds or have young ones. Have done it the past 3 years. It’s nice to sit, drink and snack watching the fireworks. It’s expensive, it’s not a full front view of the castle but to me it’s worth it to be stress free!

Is there seating/reserved seating for both the pre and post dessert parties? Or only for the Sweets and Seats?

Seats & Sweets is the only one with reserved seating for the actual fireworks. Pre and Post both have you view the fireworks in the Plaza garden and it’s standing (even if people sit in the grass while waiting CMs will make everyone stand up for the show).

Thanks for the info. I think we'll probably pass on this one!
