Hi Ladies,

I have debating for some time now on whether or not I want to do the MK photo shoot. I'm pretty sure I want an outside photographer (Randy).

My question is...if I have an outside photographer, can I still do the MK photo shoot? Or do they only allow you to do the shoot with Disney photography?

I think Disney photography is way overpriced and I was trying to avoid using them. I also really like Randy's work and wanted to use him anyway. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!:goodvibes

you can have a MK shoot if you're having a DFTW, regardless of whether you use an outside photographer for the ceremony or not.
only disney photography are allowed inside the parks, so you HAVE to use disney for the MK shoot. your outside vendor cannot do the MK shoot.

Thanks Karentan...

Has anyone done their photography that way? With an outside vendor shooting everything and then having Disney just doing the MK photo shoot?

Would just make more sense to just have Disney do all of my photography instead paying twice?

I'm so confused!:confused3

a lot of people do it that way, its no more hassle having seperate photographers, you'll have to pay twice anyway (to disney for the MK shoot, and to the other guy for the wedding)

I think the MK photo shoot is going for $1000 right now. That includes the Disney photographers time right? There isn't like an extra fee for him?

I believe there are two different MK packages available now, but that does include the photographer. It should as that is about all you get !! :rotfl: If you use Randy (or any outside photographer) for your ceremony, you can substitute a honeymoon shoot in one of the parks (not in formal attire though) for the included photography in the intimate package.

I would really like to use Randy for my photography since I know I like his work. Also his prices are reasonable compared to Disneys photography prices. I've also read from other disers that a cd of all his pictures are included in the price. Where as if you want a cd of your pictures from Disney it would cost you $750. I know there is also that wait 3 yrs. and get it for $99, but I'm a little skeptical about that.

If I used Randy and did the MK photo shoot with Disney, would that mean I would have to pay $750 for a cd with like 30 pictures (from the MK shoot) on it?

if you want the cd with the MK photos on it, you would have to pay the stupid price disney charges

Ok, so I have a couple of questions as well....

1) What is the difference between the $1000 package and the $1200 package?

2) How many photos are included for that price?

3) How much is the CD, and does the price drop after a few years?

Thanks y'all!:goodvibes

When I booked my MK shoot back in February, the photographer told me usually you end up with about 150-200 pictures.
Plus the alblum that is put together for you.

I'm not sure what the difference is between the $1000 and $1200 package. I booked at just the right time and got locked into the older price.

The cd is offered at $99 after 3 years as above poster mentioned, or $750 if you wanted it before then.

Tinkerfairy,
Are you using Disney or an outside vendor for your wedding?

Okay, so now I am a bit confused and I thought I had all my ducks in a row.

I had planned on using Randy Chapman as well for my ceremony and reception, and then doing the MK shoot a day or so later. My reception is in French Island, Epcot. Since Randy is an outside vendor" does this mean he cannot do our reception photography??? I could have sworn I seen other women who used them in their Epcot parties.

I wanted to make sure I have things straight as well:

I am using Randy for my wedding day & evening.

I am having the MK photo shoot 2 days later @ 6am.

I have the honeymoon photo shoot(that Disney is giving me for free) scheduled a few days later.

Can I schedule my honeymoon photo shoot in Epcot right after the MK photo shoot for the same price?

So this would mean if you bought the cd with teh MK and honeymoon shoot on it, it would cost you $750? or if you wait the 3 years it would be $99?

This is very confusing - I just emailed my WC - I will post her response tomorrow.

If you are talking about the MK shoot it is more like 20-30 pics that you get. Not 150-200 for the MK shoot.

Yes, please post her reponse. I wanted to use Randy for my ceremony & reception, but I also wanted to do the MK photo shoot. As a previous poster said, an outside vendor can not do the MK photo shoot. Therefore, I'm debating on whether or not I want to do the MK ps since I'll have to pay twice for pictures. I would have to pay Randy (I believe his cd is included in his price and then I'll have to pay Disney for the MK ps cd). Thanks!

Well, here's what we are doing.

We had originally planned to do the MK Photo shoot... that got put on hold when we got a price list for $1000 after planning for it being $800 all along. We finally did work out something with our coordinator and it will be $800, but we got very lucky. In general, most people are now going to have to pay $1000, even thought the web site still (or at least did, last time I looked) says $800.

So we are going to do the MK PS, but we are using an outside photographer for the wedding and reception - we have Misty Miotto for 6 hours. The cd of all pictures she takes is included in her package. As far as the MK PS, we plan to just take what pictures we get from the shoot for now, and wait the three years, and pay $99 to get the cd of the photos in three years. A bit of a pain to wait that long for them, but it's too expensive to pay another $750 on top of the $800 for the shoot itself. So, we'll just have to be patient, and be happy with what photos we get in the interim.

Part of the reason we decided to go with an outside photographer was that for about the same price as just buying the cd from Disney ($750), we could get a no-frills package with a lot more time and photos, and include the cd from another photographer, and have a much better chance of guaranteeing the quality of the photos instead of not being sure about the photographer. My personal opinion is that Disney photography just isn't competitive with the outside photographers. The cost of the photo cd is way more than it should be. If they included it in some of the upgraded photo packages, we probably would have just went with Disney.

We had Randy on the day of our wedding and he took our pictures at Epcot too.

Non Disney photographers ARE allowed in the parks for things like DP's etc I think its because the MK shoot is when the park is closed to the general public.

We had the MK shoot with Disney and although it was prices i LOVED it!
