MK parking question

We have an ADR for O'Hana breakfast at 7:30am and are planning on going to MK after breakfast. MK opens at 9am the day we will be there. We are also staying off site and will be driving to the parks. My question is should I park at MK and take the monorail to the Poly and then just take the monorail to MK after breakfast? Will the monorail be running that early? Or, will the monorail not be running and do I park at the Poly, eat, drive back to the parkling area and tram/monorail it?

Park at the Poly and you will save the MK $9 parking fee and take the monorail from there.
The parks have extra hours for the guests so the transportation service have to start early as well.

If they give you a 3 hour parking pass at the Poly, you will have to move it.

Oh man....park at the TTC, the way you are supposed to. Then just walk to the Polynesian via the pathway. It takes about 8 minutes, tops. When you get to the TTC, head to the left, way over to the side. There you will find the walkway to the Polynesian. Those that park at the Polynesian, and leave their cars past the three hours alloted run the risk of having the car towed. Besides, it's just not fair to those staying at the Polynesian to have to hunt for a parking spot because those who want to avoid a parking fee at the TTC have parked there for nothing!!!

I'm right there with you on the parking issue, we advised friends of our about this very same issue, now they park where there suppose to. But this does bring up a question I just thought of, if you have ADR for that year, and intend to go to MK, would the parking lots be open that early if the park did not open until 9:00am? You would have to park at TTC,

Not sure I completely understand, but here goes....the parking lot at the TTC opens pretty early. But, and this is the biggie, the monorail to MK (the express) doesn't start running early. Neither do the ferry boats. They all start about an 45 minutes to an hour before the park opens to the general public.
So...if someone gets there and has an ADR within MK, they could go to TTC and then walk over to the Polynesian and hop on the resort monorail which starts running at about 7ish. You still can't get into MK without your ADR number though. Not sure if that was what you were talking about.

I'm certain the towing and impound fess would be a lot more than the $9 parking fee.

My advice is to park in the TTC, take the path over to the poly, then monorail to MK after you're done. That way you wan't have to move the car.

The Poly is the most notorious tower of the 3 monorail resorts. So I wouldn't risk that over $9.

Ok, hope I don't get flamed but. . . . . . in fact PLEASE don't I'm just voicing an opinion, and only doing what I was told I could do by a Disney employee.

When we had an early adr at Ohana's and we were planning on going to MK we used the Poly's valet service. It cost $7 but when tipping (my DH is a generous tipper) it ended up costing more than the $9 to park, but we did it for convenience. We didn't have to try to park, figure out the monorail's schedule and at the end of the day it was a godsend that the resort monorail's line was shorter than the one for the ttc and we didn't have to hunt our car down in a parking lot, or worry about trams, etc.

I did not feel bad because:
*we paid for it
*we were not taking up a parking space that is really for resort guests only, or those dining to use wihle they are dining only
*when we dropped off the car the valet told us we could leave the car there for as long as we wanted

In fact we did this at the grand floridian on the morning our son had his pirate cruise, we left it in valet when we went to MK afterwards, again the valet said to leave it as long as we wanted.

Most of the MK resorts now give a parking pass to those who are having a meal there. It gets you in for three hours, that's it. It is given to you by the guard at the entrance. You have to put it in your front window, all other resort guests have a parking pass as well. I would say park at the TTC.

No one will take issue if you are using a valet for parking. You are paying, and you are not taking a spot that could have been used by a paying resort guest. In fact, if you really want the ability to park at a resort, this is the correct way to do do!! Problem is, there are a ton of people (not talking about anyone who has posted here or the OP!!!!) who try to park at the particular resorts in order to avoid fees for parking at the parks.

1) MK parking lot opens at 7:30AM
2) If you use valet parking at Poly you are alos OK.
3) If you use 30hr pass and stay all day, they very well might tow you. *

Several weeks ago this would not have been done. However, they are getting very strict about the parking. There are now private tow trucks stationed at WDW for such purposes. This goes along with the new contract with local sheriffs to get tough on speeders. So, watch your speeding and parking!

Can you really do that? I have been going for years and never knew you could valet and not run afoul of the parking rules. It would certainly be worth the extra money for us not to do have to the car/transportation parking lot hop when we have our character breakfasts.

Well, I've done it twice, no problems. The only thing, when arriving the guard did ask us (at both places) what we were doing there (not as blunt as that, but basicly that's what he was getting at) and then pointed us towards valet when we told him ( Ohana's ADRs, and pirate cruise at GF) I wonder if saying you just want to tour the resort would be enough though???

Thank you for the advice. I know what you mean about the guards. Last year, we were staying at OKW and had ressies at Narcoossee's for dinner. I suppose we looked dangerous as he did not want to let us through to park. I had to call back to our hotel to get our confirmation number. This year, I won't leave without them.

Some people don't even like the idea of you valet parking..... what if everyone did it and then there were no valet spaces? It's never happenned! I think valet parking is better than using the 3 hrs pass even if you are only staying 3hrs .... at least regarding parking spaces for hotel guests. If you are an offsite guest with a morning ADR, put the parking money toward valet service and ride the monorail, you are entitled to wdw transportation. Hotel guests might prefer there be more room on the monorail for just them but this is not a mug issue violation. You probably just paid $100 for breakfast, valet and tip well and enjoy your day at MK!

I respectufully disagree with this statement. I brought up the exact same scenario a few months ago, and I was flamed incessantly. The thread was shut down. People will flame you for anything. Just go with the flow. :thumbsup2
