I went to DL yesterday, as usual. Met a few families visiting from Australia, all of them terribly jet-lagged from the 17-hour time difference. For all of them it was their first visit.
Didn’t do PP because of the long line and Mr. Toad was closed. So I did Dumbo and then moved over to M&MRR. Went on to Buzz and immediately after my first ride I ran into the nice family that I met last week. Some of you may recall that they were local and were all good at Buzz. The two kids (11 and 12) often break 1M and did while I was there yestrday. We rode together about three times. At one point the boy broke 1M but his score didn’t come through so I let him have mine, which was 1.2M – slightly better than his, so that was a bonus
. Then after my last round I scored 2,065,000 and let the girl have it (it was her birthday last week). That seemed to make her day and it always makes me happy to help out others.
We talked for about 20 minutes after our final rides. The mom and dad are both from Chicago, which was a nice surprise. Some of you may know/recall that I’m also a Chicago native (I’ve been out here for ten years now). They come most Sundays so I’m likely to see them again. Very nice people. Together, we held the top three scores: the girl (OGB) was first, I was second and the boy (CJB) was third. Nice way to start the day.
Two friends got their magic bands early: right around 8:00. I checked around noon and was told that they were “sold out resort-wide.” (ETA: for the day. They’re restocked daily). He meant for However, a friend was there in the evening and was able to get a pair at Pin Traders in DTD. So: just because a CM tells you that they’re sold out, it doesn’t mean, necessarily, that they are. I may try to get one next Sunday, although I was told that they’re not sure if they’ll still have them. Not a big deal. Had it been, I would have got them right after the park opened.
Halloween is my favorite holiday and I love all of the decorations that are up now.
Recently I’ve talked about overpriced and bland DL postcards. Someone asked me to post pics of the new ones (that I don’t like). The Darth Vader one below is a postcard-sized rendering of the $45 print that they offer at The Disney Gallery. It’s $7. For a postcard. Just one. Only. Others that are still rather bland are $5. I still prefer the cards with images of the park such as the castle... and that only cost $2. That way recipients know exactly what they’re getting and where it’s come from.
As always, I have park maps for anyone who’d like a set. Simply DM me with your address and I’ll get a pair in the mail for you.
