I have to admit, the hundreds of times that I've been to all of the Disney parks, I have never seen this "kiss goodnight" that Cinderella's Castle is supposed to give you...a lot of DIS'ers talk about it. What IS this? I asked a few of my friends who have worked with Disney for over 20 years, and even they have never heard of it.

As the park closes for the night - Minnie and Mickey stand on the balcony of the train station and wave goodnight to everyone - that is the good night kiss.

Hope this helps,

I've actually never heard the Mickey and Minnie thing, but I do know about the kiss goodnight. I had somehow missed it all but once in my many visits to Disney parks, too - we accidentally got to experience it in Disneyland about ten years ago, and it remains one of my family's favorite memories.

For WDW, I made sure to catch it a couple weeks ago. I asked several cast members, and they had not a clue what I was talking about, but I trusted the DIS more than them - and lucky thing too!! At about 30 or 35 minutes after official park closing, the Castle goes through its color change (very beautiful) and then they make the special closing announcement with, I believe, Mickey and Minnie...maybe Jiminy Crickett? It's a very special thing, but I warn you...

MAKE SURE YOU'RE NEAR THE CASTLE COURTYARD!! We were on Main Street shopping so when it got close to time, I was standing in the middle of the street, assuming I could video tape it from there. Unfortunately, the announcement can only be heard near the Castle - I only caught the end of it, very faintly. Like I said, the CMs didn't have a clue what I was talking about when I asked, so I didn't know where to stand.

I hope this helps a little - there is video of it somewhere on the web, but I don't have the link. Hopefully another kind DIS soul will help you with that!!

 Here is a great big hug to you for this post. Thank you so much. It is soooooooo cool.:jumping1:

Thanks again,
Faith:wave2:

I was getting set to go get that link from Ahnalira's site, Soccer Mom. It is a nice one of the KG.

I have sat and waited quite often for the KG, lucky most evenings. One in awhile they do not do it, but most evenings they do. It is magical. I have had tears watching and listening to it, as have others with me. :o

Well, darn it! Now I'm going to have to go back to see that!::yes::

What a great link!!!! Thanks so much for sharing that with us. I have been to the MK 6 times, and have never ever witnessed that. But, I will definitely see it in 3 weeks!!!!

I too have missed it on my past visits but I will be sure we catch it on our upcoming trip - I can't wait! I KNOW I'll have tears in my eyes, it dosen't take much:D

Well, thanks for starting my day with tears in my eyes. As you can see from my countdown clock it won't be long for me now!!

My dd and I want to see this real bad. Why can't I pull it up? When I try it only comes up with a blank page and says "done". Does anyone have any ideas for me?

The same thing happened to me ... and then I realized that I didn't have Quicktime installed. Once I installed it, I was able to watch the movie. You can download it at http://www.quicktime.com

HTH :p

Is the courtyard crowded for this? Obviously not many people seem to be aware of it...so it seems that it is possible to hop on over there about 5-10 mins beofre it is supposed to happen and have no problems seeing it? We are planning on being there April 18-22 (after spring breaks!)

Let me get this straight...it happens approx 30 minutes after the park closes? Around the castle? And as someone asked before, does it happen on special nights such as the Christmas Party?

Thanks,

Gina::MinnieMo

Crazy4mandms, no, it is never crowded there then, only a handful of guests, a few security people standing around (I like to take their pictures. :teeth: ) and cleanup people. They do leave you alone, till it is over, then if you stay there, they like you to move along, LOL. As for getting there 'just before it happens', the timing is varied, somtimes 30 minutes after the fireworks, sometimes an hour, and sometimes, not at all. You really have to pay your dues, LOL, and hang around.

As for MVMCP nights, I do think they do. My head is muddy now, LOL.

On Steve Soares site they have the Kiss Goodinght listed for this week (with a 7 closing time) schedueled for 7:30, 8;8:30 & 9! I'll be happy to sit on a bench and let the crowds file out knowing they'll be a treat in store! (I don't think I'll let the DH in on this one). I'll be sure to wait in the castle courtyard!

We were in the Magic Kingdom Nov. 15th when the park closed -- we stopped & bought ice cream cones from the Ice Cream Store on Main Street (family last night tradition) & went & sat in the area by the canal where the tables with yellow & white striped umbrella's are. It was about 30 minutes after the park closed that the castle started changing colors & there was the 'talk' about having a good Disney Day. On another trip we were leaving the park & 'Kiss' started - most people didn't even know that it was happening - they just kept on walking ---- You can always ask a CM if they are having it. Nice way to end your day!!!

jiminyC_fan,

I got the same message you did at first, a blank page with a "done". I do have Quicktime installed so I just right-clicked on the link and saved it to my desktop.

From there I could double-click it and watch it with the Quicktime program. Kinda weird but Quicktime doesn't always interact with my Internet Explorer quite right.

Well, hope this helps as after I watched it I certainly had tears in my eyes!
