Hi everybody,

Will be heading to Orlando next Tuesday (staying in a villa offsite). I have seen that every morning while we are visiting will be an EMH at the MK... Since we are offsite, we will get to the park at 7:30 or so I imagine. I am wondering what the procedure is for offsite guests entering on an EMH morning...

Do they hold the offsite guests at the turnstiles while onsite guests enter? Do they hold them at the TTC? Do they let them in early anyway?

Just curious what to expect when we arrive as the MK will be the first park we visit and there is no way to avoid EMH mornings.

Thanks! Ed

AFAIK they hold regular guests at the turnstiles until regular park opening. Not 100% sure... maybe someone can confirm this.

Oh, and welcome to the DISboards! :)

It is my understanding that unless you are staying On-site, Disney property you do not qualify for early entry. On-site guests only! To arrive at 7:30, therefore, would be a huge waste of time. The parks do not open until 9:00. Go have breakfast, sleep in (it's a tiring day)...they won't let you in no matter how sad you look.

MK is actually opening at 8am for everyone March 20-April 1 (EMH is 7-8). So 7:30 would be a good time to plan to arrive for an offsite guest. If you are driving in they will hold you at the Transportation and Ticket Center. If you are able to get over to the entrance (which is sometimes possible) they will hold you at the turnstiles until the official park opening time. EMH (morning and night time) is for guests staying at a Walt Disney World resort only (with the exception of the Swan and Dolphin, Shade of Green and the Downtown Disney Hilton...who are also invited to EMH).

Oops! Did not know that and obviously misunderstood the question. This has not been a good posting day for me. Perhaps it is time to do something useful and clean my house. I'll come back when my head is functioning.

Well, actually, you were not incorrect. EMH is for guest staying on property, it is just during this time that an exception is being made. Or at least that is what I read elsewhere.

It's not really an exception - it's an adjustment of the normal operating hours for a specified time. Usually open at 9:00am, the Magic Kingdom will instead open at 8:00am during the two weeks before and after Easter. Can't remember the exact dates - maybe March 20 - April 2? So a regular off-site guest would still be admitted at 8:00am on those days, while any EMH would begin at 7:00am for on-site guests only. And I think I remember that EMH will happen all of those days, too, right?

So I guess the answer is that they hold offsite guests at the TTC until 8am? (EMH starts at 7am while we are there)... Just wondering how early we should get there. If this is the case, I would guess we won't hit our first attraction until 8:30 or so? 15 min to get across the lagoon, and 15 minutes to get through the turnstiles and get to the action? Just trying to decide which are af the park to hit first...

Thanks for the responses!

Ed

Just before the park's regular opening hour, there can be hundreds of guests waiting at the TTC. So if you are driving from off site you may still want to get there an hour before opening hour to be on the first ferry boat or first few monorail trains. It is not uncommon for the service to be held up so that first of each arrives at Magic Kingdom just 15 minutes before opening time. If it is an EMH morning, lines at the turnstiles will be short for the first arriving day guests since the on-site guests will already be inside.
