okay guys, i need some honest opinions here...no sugarcoating! We are heading down in less than 3 weeks and are planning to do the Magic Kingdom Dessert Party...ive heard good reviews when it first started but now im hearing mixed thoughts about it....Who's gone and what did you think of it? Worth the $25??

Thanks!!

My DH and I attended the Dessert Party in August while on our honeymoon :lovestruc. We went before the price increased and before they extended the party. At the time we went, DH had a good time but we didn't think that it was worth $18 a person (the cost in August). We were seated at a great table - close to the railing of the terrace. The desserts were good but we certainly did not eat our money's worth. DH kept commenting after about how people at the party were dropping plates and glasses, and the rush for food. There was plenty of food for everyone in attendance. In terms of food, I saw a plate for the special diet individuals and some of that appealed to me more than the normal desserts. I'm a slightly-less picky eater when it comes to desserts

The view is good also. You could see SpectroMagic from a distance. For Wishes, you do not look directly at the castle but that didn't bother me at all. Most of the fireworks appeared to the right of the castle.

I wouldn't do this again unless the dropped the price significantly. The party was something special I wanted to do for my honeymoon and it certainly was special.

We went on Sept. 7th. I am glad we did. Would we go again probably not. I don't think it is a must do for every trip, but once was nice. Everyone seems to rush the dessert table. Take you time they are constantly restocking. Spectro was passing right as we were seated. I wish I would have gotten up to see it better-but we were caught in the sugar craze. My dd 10 loved it and tried a lot of different things !! My ds 12 ate $25 donut holes and a cookie. If you have reservations I say keep them and have fun!! :goodvibes

We went this summer and did the dessert party. We really enjoyed ourselves--and I was excited to hear they'd extended it until the end of the year. Unfortunately, when I called earlier this week, they had no availability for Christmas week but after reading the DISBoards tonight, I just called and made a ressie for 12/21--the date I really wanted! Yea! We enjoyed it enough to want to do it again!

My family and I went at the end of August. It was worth the money we paid. Didn't realize the price went up recently. It was a great view and unfortunately we went on a day it poured down raining so no Tinkerbell:mad: But at least we were dry.:thumbsup2 The desserts were great and the only thing I like to drink was water, coffee or tea. The cold drinks did not have any sugar:eek: Would I do it again? Probably not. It was a great experience though.

We have a reesie and I am also thinking of cancelling. Our sons are 4 & 7.pirate: We are doing the Mickey & Pals Fireworks Voyage:cheer2: the week before so I was really hoping we could see the parade fm there. I s it really worth $80.00 for us?:snooty:

Are there dessert parties on non-MVMCP nights?

When I made our ressie for 11/28 I was told that on the nights that have a MVMCP you need to buy a ticket for the special event (that could get pricey fora ticket to the event and then the dessert party).

Instead of starting an entirely new thread, I thought I would ask here....

I have never heard of the MK Desert Party until now. I was wondering if it is offered during MVMCP? And, if so.... do you know what time and if you can see the fireworks show clearly from here?

Thanks!

It's at the Tommorrowland Terrace Restaurant (my old favorite spot for fireworks).
But, it isn't a dead on view of fireworks..you are off to the side/in Tomorrowland.

For a family of 4, you could take that $100 and get a heck of a lot of stuff at the bakery and candy store on mainstreet. And then sit at the tables outside the Plaza restaurant. You would be about 50 ft. from where the people are for the dessert party.
There is also a bathroom right there too. You can wander towards mainstreet if you want as well.
We just came back and had the free dining...I can't imagine being on the DP and eating all of those desserts and paying another 25 bucks for more desserts!

I'm bummed, we were looking forward to going to the Dessert Party on December 7th and have been told that they were sold out! This is after I called several times last week and were told the system was down so I couldn't book the resse:sad2: Have many people had luck on getting in when they were initially booked?

We did this in early August and thought it was awesome! Would I do it again? Yup.

We did go before the price went up, but still $25 for a reserved seat and yummy desserts? :thumbsup2 from us.

We are Disneyland locals and the price for the Fantasmic! dessert buffet is $75, and it's not any better than the MK one. We thought the $18 (then) was a bargain!

I'm hoping they extend the dates into 2010--I'd love to go in March! The only question I have is do they have security watching the entrance area?

We were at Epcot near an area that was roped off for a dessert party this past April. We were appauled to watch several people go under the rope, grab desserts, and go back to their original spot to watch the fireworks. Many people were sending their kids under the rope to get food and return it to the entire family! :confused3 We could not believe the behaviour. I was furious watching this go on for at least 30 minutes before anyone stopped these people. Several couples went in and acted insulted when asked to produce a ticket/bracelet or whatever. It was a huge problem and I wouldn't want that to reoccur. Hopefully, there is security to control entrance to the party. Anyone notice any problems?

That's the same night we are going! Glad to hear that you liked it enough to go again.

We did the dessert pary on 10/11. If you look on the dining reviews board I posted some pics and did a review.

I thought it was OK, but I would not do it again. There was some really nice desserts and I like having something to do while waiting for wishes. But it's by far not the best viewing spot, most of the fireworks look to the right of the castle (your right, not the castle's right). Plus I thought it was high. When I asked DH to try to get us a ressie I was still under the impression it was $18, I didn't know about the price increase. So it was $75 for three people. We could've went and got a real meal for that amount of money. Plus I'm a soft drink drinker, I was disappointed that there was no Coke. The milk was good with the desserts but I usually prefer to drink soft drinks with all meals, that is if I can't get SWEET TEA. The desserts were refilled until about the time the fireworks started, but didn't refill after that. We hung out after the fireworks to let the crowd die down. There was still a fair amount of food and drinks left.

Anyways, I thought it was OK. I am glad I did it, but I would not do it again. I'm not even sure I would recommend it to others.
