Hello everyone, rather than take a mid-day break, we decided to do a sit down lunch in the middle of the day. I think that the boat ride over to the WL would be nice and relaxing and we'd get to see the inside of the WL too. I wonder though if staying in the park for lunch is a better idea?

We will be at Disney for 8 days, so hopefully we can do MK at least 2 days if that makes any difference.

On our trip last January, we took the boat from MK to WL to check it out. We had a GREAT lunch at WCC, which is much less crazy during the day, but still fun. And we loved the lodge so much, that we are staying there in just 10 days!

So, WL gets my vote! :thumbsup2

I vote for Tony's. We've had lunch and dinner at Tony's. We've had good meals at both, but we prefer lunch as we don't feel as rushed and the service is a tad better and the portions are smaller.

We did not care for WCC at all and won't go back for dinner (we may try breakfast in a few years). We found the food overrated (DH actually got sick on the ribs and/or chicken in the skillet), the service was terrible (we were there for two hours) and, although two adults over 50, we did not see or hear any of the antics in that two hours we were there in the main room (we were put way in the back room although there were available tables in the main room).

I vote for WCC-we had dinner there and loved it. I think doing it at lunch would give you a more relaxing time and the lodge is beautiful!!

On our trip last March, we took a break during our day at MK and went to the WL to eat at WCC. You are right...the boat ride is relaxing, and the time spent away from the crowds is nice as well. We love WL, and the lunch at WCC is just as nice as what you would get at a place in the MK.

Have fun!

i would do WCC...sometimes a break away from the parks is exactly what you need and WL is beautiful. You could also order off the menu at WCC instead of the skillet which a lot of people don't seem to like

I would vote for Tony's! If you time it right you can even watch the afternoon parade while eating at one of their outside tables!

Tony's = yuck! Never again!

WCC = pretty good! We did dinner there then rode the boat over for evening emh and fireworks. Worth seeing the resort and the restaurant was fun.

If you stay in MK eat lunch at Plaza Rest. We've done that twice and really like the food.

we always do tony's for lunch. we enjoy sitting on the patio and watching the afternoon parade.

Funny WCC is YUCK  to us the food was awful and 2 people in our party got sick. Don't know if it was just too greasy or what but we will not be heading back there again. We were not impressed with it at all although the WL is beautiful.

We love Tony's have had several great meals there and you don't have to waste time and leave the park. I say give Tony's a shot.

As you can see, guests either love these restaurants or hate them. We have been to Tony's for some autographs and to see the Lady and the Tramp window during a very slow meal time. (We were in the building and the hostess was chatting with us out in the lobby area. She invited us in and showed us around. She was one of the sweetest cast members we have met at WDW.) We have eaten at WCC twice and we love it there. If I were making the choice, it would depend on several things. If my kids were a bit more active at meal time, I would choose WCC. If you want a more relaxing atmosphere, I would choose Tonys. It also would depend on what type of food I wanted - Tonys offers more Italian type food and WCC is more western type foods (Their corn bread is my favorite.) At WCC you can also see the WL, stroll around, relax in a chair, soak up atmosphere. At Tony's, in the back of the building is a small cinema playing old Disney cartoons - great place for a nap. Good luck with your choice.

DH and I took the boat over to WL for lunch twice. It was a nice change of pace but we're not crazy about WCC. Our last few trips we have had lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern. We like their lunch menu.

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

We have done both for lunch. I like both but our grandchildren prefer WCC. They like the food and the atmosphere. They did not care for the food at Tony's.

I think that they are both fine.

The question is whether you have the time to go to WL.

Remember you must walk to the boat landing, wait for the boat, ride the boat (the boat also goes to Fort Wilderness, so you will be going to the Fort Wilderness boat landing on either the departure or return), and walk to WL (it is a short walk). Then do the reverse to get back to the MK. Plan about an hour for all of the transportation.

You will also spend about a half hour checking out the hotel - including the store.

Eating time is about the same in both WCC and Tony's.

Have fun,

I think you make the decision based on logistics. If you plan to remain in MK after the meal I'd go with Tony's. You'll spend a bit of time leaving the park, waiting for the boats, riding them then trying to re enter the park. That's a lot of extra time. Now if you were leaving MK to go somewhere else after lunch I'd say go ahead with your WCC plans.

We left MK and headed to Epcot for a meal and to hit a couple of attractions there. If we were going to remain in MK I probably would have booked a lunch in MK. As it turned out we ate and left Epcot due to rain. We had naps back in the room before returning to MK for the Pirate party that night. We had entered MK at 8am always planned to get back to the room for a rest before the party.

Have fun,

Is that new? When we went in January, our boat didn't stop anywhere. MK to WL and WL to MK.

UPDATED: I checked the WL FAQ thread and saw that their are 2 boats that run from the WL dock. The BLUE FLAGs run between CR, WL and Fort Wilderness. The RED FLAG boats (their are two of them that run continually) run exclusively between WL and the MK.

This is what I was going to say. Just make sure you get a red flag boat, and it's a direct ride to WL from the MK and back again. That's how it's been both times we've stayed there.

Anyhow, personally, I love Tony's for lunch. The atmosphere is too cute, and I loved the 5 cheese pizza they have (Bianca Flatbread). Nice respite from the MK crowds, too. That said, I'd like to try WCC for lunch one day. Just not on an MK park day. The boat ride doesn't take long really, but I don't like leaving the parks for a meal and then returning. I feel like I'm wasting time. It's perfect for many folks though, because it offers them a desired break from the parks.

Either one sounds like a good plan... We at at WCC and it was nice. Loved seeing the WL. We are planning to try Tony's on our next trip. I just have a hard time leaving the parks once we are there.

Happy planning!! Hope you have a wonderful trip!!
