MK Bridal Shoots 08/31 - 09/13 CANCELLED!

Just had the dreaded call from Dara at Disney photography. Our only option is the 14th September which we cannot do as my OH's suit will be back in the UK by then. Very upset and I have 15 weeks to go. This has really spoiled the magical experience for me. DEVASTATED as the MK Bridal shoot was one of the major factors in picking WDW as our venue, we are from the UK so its a long way to go. I don't want to do the other park shoots as it just doesnt have the same appeal for me

If the suit is the only issue, maybe you could consider renting one for the pictures? Just a thought!

Thank you for the suggestion but its not the only problem. I think both of us in our proper wedding attire meant a lot to us, as the suits in the UK are a bit different to the ones in the US (as far as I have seen!) I'm also on a strict diet right now and when we arrive on 1st September we will be on the Dining Plan for 2 weeks, so odds are by the second week I will have blimped and will bear a similar resemblance to Shamu

I agree, it would definitly be cheaper to rent a nice suit then come back down, and you will then get what you were dreaming for!

When they phoned us up to let us know that our MK shoot would have to be cancelled they offered us some dates for MK (not many) either side of our scheduled shoot. They also allowed us to have bridal portraits in other parks for a discount. Another option was for us to do the shoot with a green screen at their studios - not the same, obviously, but I'm sure that way they could add in any background you want. Give them a call and see what other things they can offer you. The above were offered to us without us even asking!

It's worked out better for us (we've decided to do two other parks instead - at a very very good discount) but from how apologetic the lady from Disney Photography was (her name has completely slipped my mind!) I could tell that many other couples have been much more upset by the news.

Is there no way you could have scheduled the September 14 shoot and then make other arrangements for your DH's suit?

I'm so very sorry this happened to you. It happened to us, too. It was the single most important reason we chose DFTW for our vow renewal, and having it taken away (along with a few other issues) has caused us to leave them for another company.

I totally get why this is so very disappointing and I'm so sorry. Especially tough as you get closer as opposed to being told outright. I'm so sorry! Not sure what you are doing for photography but I sm sure you will still be able to capture alot of "the magic" without being in the park itself. I know how disappointing this is. That said, and we did get out pictures done in the park, the experience of the shoot in terms ofother guests, where we could/couldn't go didn't live up to the cost. But we did get a number of lovely pictures.

I'm so sorry for everyone whos had shoots canceled. Always curious if tgat affects anyone's minimums and what Disney does or doesn't do to address.

I know that they can do this for any reason and it doesn't really matter, but did they give you a reason as to why they canceled?

Nope, no reason given apart from MK have put date restrictions in place for those dates and so mine has been cancelled

I've been offered 2 other park shoots for $650 plus $100 off any prints or the CD. Been told we can return at any time in the future to do the MK shoot. So we are now thinking rather than cancelling the makeup (early call out) which has already been paid for we could just do HS and Epcot for now, and do MK next year. Not quite what I wanted, but it wasn't to be it would seem.

Sorry your MK shoot has been cancelled. With that said, that's a pretty good offer they've given you. I would def. go with it. All the cancellations are starting to scare me though. Our shoot is scheduled on 9/15 the morning of our wedding.

They also canceled mine but was able to push it back as I also will be there two weeks but I SO feel you on the blimped out part in terms of eating! I am hoping by walking the parks and swimming that will help some

I think it is a great idea trying another park and coming back for MK they are building other castles as well over in Fantasy Land and I bet pics there would be amazing as well! That is actually why I was told our photo session had to be pushed back due to the construction...

Yikes! Mine is 8/27..I hope if they move the date up anymore, they give us notice soon! Luckily, I'm local so I will be able to change my date a lot easier, but still! I wonder why they cancelled these dates!

I just got the same call yesterday afternoon....

All MK Photo shoots have been stopped from 23 October through 8 November- I knew it was coming but its still a bummer....

I was not given a reason either- but was given the same options and discoutns that others have talked about.

We were originally going to do the shoot 2 days after the wedding ( 23 October)... but now we might do it before the wedding.... not sure how I feel about that yet or the day after... ORRRRRR the day after the wedding ( 22 October) ONLY if another couple who has a temp "hold" on that day releases the day. They were being called yesterday because Disney wanted a definite answer from them, since we can't move forward until they decide what they are going to do....

Is there any way to keep the suit until the 14th? It would probably be cheaper in the long run than booking another trip.

Also, I know the suit you're talking about is a bit different than the typical ones we see here but i'm sure you could call a rental place and see if they can get you something similar.

This scares me because I am 10/22/11 the morning of our wedding. Or at least I was told that I am! What is the difference between a temporary hold and a permanent one? I didn't receive a call yesterday to see if we still wanted the spot.


Also, I don't understand this. If these are all being canceled can't they let us all "share" and have like 4 brides a morning? I mean if they told me that I had to be ready to go at 3 am so they could fit in other brides by 7 am that morning I would be more than willing to do so! The MK shoot is so important to so many people!

They do two shoots, however, I would call and confirm you want your spot b/c once it is given out it will be gone!
