It depends on the crowd level and where you are in the rope drop throng, and also, which route you take. We tried it during spring break last year, took what I now know is the long route (straight through the castle), and even though we were at the very front of the pack, next to the CMs with ropes, 7DMT had a 40+ minute wait when we were allowed over. That was a busy (but not mega-crowded) period last year, though, & 7DMT was a bit newer then.

Here is a link to an article I read about the lesser-known "short route" to take when heading to 7DMT at rope drop:

http://www.easywdw.com/easy/blog/mi...er-bell-moves-the-4th-fp-magic-kingdom-52814/

Keep in mind that the article came out 2 years ago, so YMMV.

thanks... I'll check out the routes... kids really want to ride this ... we will be there on Tuesday... I have used my FP on other stuff in the morning... maybe I can grab one for the evening

I was at the front was 3 party from the cm that walked us in and beside the people that ducked under the rope and a few ADR it was a walk on

I have also gone not in the front of the line but got there and the line was 30 minutes it looks long but moves fast since there is very few FP / rider swap/ DAS at the mirage point

I would say get there at rope drop try to be as close to the front and you should be fine

If you arrive at rope drop, the line is going to be long. If you arrive 45 to 60 minutes before the park is scheduled to open, you won't have a problem.

That can fully depend on where in the "holding area" the guest chooses to stand and wait.

Well, yes, I guess I should be more specific.

If you arrive at rope drop, the line is going to be long. If you arrive 45 to 60 minutes before the park is scheduled to open and put yourself near the front of the pack, you won't have a problem.

what are my chances of getting a FP for it later in the evening once all my morning ones are used up? hate for my kids to miss this ride... but at the same time hate to stress the family out trying to get back there right off the bat

While possible, expect all FP+ to be booked for 7DMT before noon, or earlier (regardless of what is the return time of the actual FP.)

We just returned from our trip. I was able to pick up Seven Dwarfs for a family of three on two different days and at reasonable times by checking the app repeatedly. I do mean, constantly refreshing and looking while in lines for other rides or first thing in the morning. Good luck! It's possible but takes effort and a bit of luck.

I was there in February, and one day I just kept refreshing the FP as we were relaxing at the room in the afternoon. I got FP for 7D. It is possible, but I think you just have to be lucky and get on just as someone cancels. Not likely, but possible for sure.

We did MK RD four times on our trip. We were never heading to SDMT at RD, but the cast members walked the SD crowd all together and another cast member walked all of the AE/PP crowd all together. iMO the best spot is going to be at the front on the right side to head out after the show. The CMs are going to keep the line all together and no running but you need to be at the front to begin with and walk very swiftly or a lot of people will pass you.

One day on our trip SDMT was down at RD and the people who went there waited two hours until it opened. It was terrible. But you never know when a ride will go down!

So where in that blue area is the "right" place to be?

Instead of standing in the middle of the holding area for the best view of the show, get all the way over to the right, in front of the underpass (where the 11 and arrow are on Robo's map.)

ok.. I may have to try the morning or hope that the standby line late at night goes low enough :(

Do your kids stay out late? We found a 10 minute actual wait for 7D (posted wait was 40 minutes) right after Wishes at about 10:30 pm last summer. We've rode it several times after 11 pm with very short waits also. In fact, the longest we've waited using this method was 20 minutes during opening week in 2014.

if we go back to the hotel for a long midday break.. I'm hoping they will have the energy to stay up ... I hope I will have the energy also :)
