Daughter went over to MK and they are at capacity. I was over at Epcot and it was very crowded. You know when you see long lines at Journey into your Imagination the park is crowded. There was also long lines the last two days at Spaceship Earth.
Probably both. It's a beautiful day so probably lots of folks decided to head to the parks. Typhoon Lagoon was at capacity this morning according to the sign out front.
Yes. There are various levels of closing, but when the park is "at capacity," that means no one else gets in until the crowds start thinning out. Usually after the afternoon parade.
It's the week after Easter-- I think it was somewhat expected. Happened last year in the week following Easter. I know we went the week after Easter in 2002. 3 days the MK was closed to offsite guests for a few hours due to capacity issues. After Christmas-- this week ranks right up there w/ crowd levels.
I am not at all surprised by the crowds this time of year. Here in NJ lots of families head to WDW on the Easter/Spring break because of the long vacation. Kids have off Good Friday and the entire week after Easter in most schools. Everyone who comes back always says how crowded it was - not just this year, but every year.
That's really weird because I just talked to my brother last night who is there for vacation with his family and he said the crowds have been very managable. He said as of yesterday, the longest wait they had was for Splash Mt and that was only 45 minutes. I wonder why today would be so much different.
DAK has more acreage, but most of that space is for the animals, not the guests. The actual "guest area" is fairly small when compared to the other parks.
Ooooo, going on Friday morning. Think we should even try to hit a park on Friday afternoon/evening, Safetymom? We actually debated starting out on Thursday evening after the kids get out of school. Rethought that, decided to leave early-ish on Friday morning. I remember this time last year, crowds were big, but thanks to fastpass (first time we really utilized it) we were able to do all that we wanted since we went last minuted and wound up offsite.
They also reach capacity sometimes around July 4th. As previously said, there are different levels of closing. First they start with off-site guests and eventually when it reaches full capacity even on-site resort guests who leave a park are not allowed to return. We were told about this by our itinerary planner at YC so we wouldn't leave the park on July 4th and not be able to get back in to see the fireworks. She made all of PS's inside MK for that day so it wouldn't be an issue.
