DH and BIL have the steam engine tour at 7am in MK. What is the best way for them to get there? We will have a car, but will Ticket and Transportation be opened that early? Or if they park at the Contemporary, will the monorail be running or will they have to walk? I truly have no clue. Thanks.

Knowing where you will be coming from would be a help...

The TTC is open, however, resort monorails don't start running until 7am and express don't start until 8:30am as a general rule.

Otherwise, valet park at the CR and walk to the MK.

Where are you staying? Disney provides buses for resort guests to get to early ADRs and tours. The buses start running between 6:15-6:30ish.
Or, they could get a cab to the CR and then walk over to the MK. The sidewalk route takes less than 10 mins. Or, as already noted, they can valet park at the CR and walk over.

Seems that everyone who takes this tour would be in the same boat - maybe the thing to do is call back the folks who book the tour and see what they suggest. They probably have to deal with this question every day the tour is offered.

Thanks everyone. We are staying at Kidani Village at AKL. Duh why didn't I think to ask how to get there! Good idea.

Take a cab to the CR, or valet park at CR and walk.

When my dh and ds did this tour a few years back they were instructed to park at the CR and then just walk over the the MK.

You can get a bus to MK at 6:15ish...be out at the MK bus stop by then. One should be along within 20 mins. That should get you to the MK in time for the tour.
Or just take a cab. You could drive to CR and valet park also....like I said.
Be aware..parking at resorts, that you are not staying at, is not allowed for park access. So just driving to the CR, self-parking and heading to the MK isn't the thing to do. But you can valet park there and go about your business.

The earlier post from elgerber made it sound like *perhaps* the CR is considered the designated parking area for the steam engine tour. So perhaps using regular parking at CR might be allowed in this case. (But this is something that one should *definitely* clarify in advance - again, my earlier post recommending checking with the tour folks.)

Yes, this was the case when my guys did it. They were instructed to do so, and the CR parking guy knew why they were there. BUT, I would also clarify to make sure this is still the case.
