MK 7am EMH Friday April 19th-didn't open until 7:20am

They didn't let us onto Main Street until 7:20am. Held us all front until then. The park was supposed to open at 7am for resort guests. We didn't even get into Tomorrowland until 7:30am. Space Mountain was closed due to issues until a few minutes before 8am. So we rode Astro Orbiter which ended up having a long wait due to Space being down. Pathetic to wake-up a teen at 5:30am to get to MK emh by 6:40ish to only ride Astro Orbiter before the park opened to the public at 8am.

Stopped by Guest Services and asked what happened. They issued an any-time fast pass for MK for only that day. We were leaving the park due to extreme weather (they closed the airport-it wasn't a typical FL passing rainstorm).

Wonder what was going on that morning and why they opened up so late with no announcements or apology?

Likely some sort of operational issue that they didn't want people in the park yet. I think if they have maintenance workers in the park, they don't want people seeing that (maintaining the magic, etc...) so likely just something like that was running over schedule. You mention poor weather, maybe that was somehow related?

It's too bad they couldn't have extended the fastpass they gave you to another day, they usually will try their best to make good in situations like this.

Sorry for the bad experience, but these things do happen. Doesn't make it stink any less though, I know.

That is very unfortunate, but I can't say that I've ever heard of this happening before. Sorry though.

MK bridal portraits start a little after 6 am and usually run about an hour. When I did mine in April of last year it was an Extra Magic Morning and we literally had to run from the carousel to Liberty Square where the photographers had the car parked in order to get out of there before the guests entered the park. One of my last pictures at the carousel is time stamped 7:23 am. So it could always be one of those situations. Bridal portraits can be scheduled a year in advance and sometimes Disney changes the park hours.
