It has been 8 years since I've been to WDW and so much has changed. Once of the biggest changes is I'm now a Florida resident. My husband and I have been toying with getting AP since we are now residents. I'm wanting to plan a trip in Oct or Nov for my daughter who just graduated from college. She graduated from college in Georgia and is not a FL resident. Can I mix AP and regular tickets? Is it better to purchase a regular package especially with the free dining deal going on and wait to purchase my AP? I know the free dining doesn't apply to a room only. If I purchase annual passes and am able to book a package deal for me and my husband, I can buy tickets for my daughter but she wouldn't get free dining. Am I correct with that? So many choices!!! Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Lisa

Free dining requires everyone in the room to be on the same package.

You can either:
1. Go ahead and book a free dining package for you all, then upgrade your and your husband's tickets to AP's while you're on the trip.
2. Buy you and your husband AP's, and use a room only discount instead of free dining.

You'll have to do the math to decide which works out best for your situation.

Thank you! I wasn't even thinking of upgrading our tickets at the park. I'll work out the numbers.

We upgraded last year after booking free dining rooms. We had purchased memory makers with our package and we got a refund for the cost of the memory maker because it was included with the AP. Worked out great for us.

If you want to go in October or Novemeber it won't matter as the free dinning discount hardly is available in either month (none at all in october and can't remember when in Novemeber).

If you want to use the APs before the fall trip, you can go ahead and purchase APs before the trip, then purchase tickets with the free dining package, if it is available. You can save those tickets for future use. You can even transfer them for someone else to use. We have done that before and it was very easy to do. There are expiration dates now on tickets, I think, but the dates are pretty far out.

Thanks for all the help. I believe we will purchase AP tickets before the trip anyway because we will definitely be going to the Food and Wine Festival. The AP tickets are 1 year from the date of purchase or 1 year from the date of first use?

1 year from date of activation (which is usually first use)
