Does anyone else make mixed soft drinks / pop? You know, a little bit of this mixed with a little bit of that with a touch of something else?

This goes back to my roller skating days back in the 70s. You could skate up to the concession stand and ask for an "Around the World". The person would then go to the drink fountain and just start putting a bit of everything they had into the cup (unless you either told them what NOT to put in or you asked for a specific combination). I'm not sure why, but another name for this type of drink is a "Suicide".

Now that fast food places have you get your own drinks, I'm able to make my own "Around the World". Over the years, I've settled on my own "recipe":
  • 1/2 Diet Coke
  • 1/4 Sprite
  • 1/8 Root Beer
  • 1/8 Orange
This might seem like a weird idea but this is where Cherry Coke originated. People were putting cherry syrup in with their Coke. Coca-Cola got wind of it, played around with the recipe and ratio, and put out Cherry Coke.

You must change your user name immediately for referring to ‘soft drinks’. You broke my Pittsburgh heart. ;)

When I worked at McDonald’s in the 80, the employees used to mix root beer and orange soda. It was kind of like Dr Pepper, but not exactly.

As a kid when there was a self serve soda fountain we used to do that. I have mixed flavors on the freestyle machines. But my go to beverage is 1/2 tea. It’s half sweet and half unsweetened tea.

Definitely! I don't drink soda often, but when I do get one from a fountain like that, I like to mix Sprite and orange.

There is a sub place near us that has one of those freestyle machines so when I get the combo for my drink always mix orange soda, vanilla root beer, and Mello Yello.

I remember when I was a kid and when there was a "serve yourself" fountain dispenser people would put a little bit of everything in the cup. I may have tried it too. Nowadays I am way too picky and want one taste and stick with it.

Not really. But stuff like Coca-Cola Freestyle machines have made mixing/adding flavors a thing that's pretty common.

Does a rum and Coke count?
