Good morning Ladies and GoofyDad. Just a quick drive-by to say hi before I leave for work.

It's a racing weekend here in KC! Danica Patrick is in town (or at least will be by this evening)!

And, even more exciting, for the first time ever in my life, I will be going to some real auto races this weekend and in September thanks to a sweet deal I made yesterday on some tickets (got them for $100 less than face value for the package of eight):

IMGP0952--NoRow--NoSeat.jpg

Those of you who used to read Offenders might recognize the famous Mickey pillow (from the Mickey pillow on Rob's head shot after I got my dental crown) in the background. There are Row and Seat numbers on my tickets but I blanked them out in the pic so that none of you ladies would come out stalking me. :rotfl2:

I told DW the purchase was for DS14 (who is the real racing fan in our house) but I'm pretty excited also. It's NASCAR Trucks tomorrow and Indy Cars on Sunday and then the Busch Series and Nextel Cup (both NASCAR) in late September.

I also get a little bit of the boys' little league baseball and little league basketball (which, frankly, I HATE being in the gym on pretty spring days, even for just an hour or so) mixed into my weekend just for good measure.

Everyone have a great day!

(Sorry for all the pics with your dialup access, E.)

Yes, thank you Rob it took me 5 minutes to download those pics.:sad2:

BUT, have fun.

You guys have a good day. I'm leaving for now. Catch ya later.

Michele: it's a good movie, if you like that kind of humor. I do.

BTW, GoDaddy my 12 yr. old just watched it for the first time about a month ago. He couldn't quit laughing.

I will have to watch it. I love most movies -- especially comedies. Have a great day, Elisabeth! :sunny:

That sounds like a great weekend!

I'm finally starting to come up for season tickets for the Bristol TN races. I've been on their mailing list since 2002. From what I've heard from friends you continue to get ticket offers until you move or die. Couldn't afford them for the spring race, but hopefully they'll make the offer again to me for the night race in August. And then next year, and the next...

It really is one of the funniest movies ever made. My wife, who's never been a Monty Python fan (who DID I marry?), deems it 'watchable', which is high praise from her.

THE CIRCLE OF FRIENDS

We meet on-line to have a great time....
We laugh and we giggle and smile at our screens,
We sit back and wonder what this all means.

We surf the Web, we travel afar,
We span thousands of mile without a car.
We watch conversations flowing on the screen,
We tell jokes and stories and know what they mean.

What are we looking for? Where's the attraction?
How can we do this and get satisfaction?
Who are we? Why are we here?

We are "the Circle of Friends", made from a chain.
And we're here because friendship is what we gain!
Born on-line formed by few,
We had no idea just what to do.

So we are linking our pages, first one then two,
And wonder where we'll end up when we are through?
The Circle will spread, like a wild vine,
It will breathe and whisper like the winds of time.

We are the Circle of Friends, made from a chain,
All of our motives are exactly the same.
Searching for friendships all over the lands,
Linking our pages is like holding hands.

We are 'the Circle of Friends', made from a chain,
A chain of cable and wire without an end.

Why not circle of friends for your thread title too...
although "under constrution" is cute too!

Happy Friday!!!

I'm telling myself this is a "one time" thing but I hear it's addictive once you go.

Though I bought these from a private individual, the Speedway did have the 4-date packages for sale this year to the general public -- not a lot of them (somewhere in the high hundreds) but more than in years past when there was a wait list.

Ok, now I REALLY am going to work. Bye everyone.

Next week I go with my son to Washington D.C. He's in Junior Beta Club and this is their big annual trip. We leave from school at 6:00am next Wednesday in a couple of big charter buses - we plan to hit DC around 3:00. Then we really go non-stop. Every morning out and about by 7:00, and don't get back to the hotel until 9:00 each night. We get back home late Sunday night. They have us divided into smaller groups, and then divided up into sub-groups to keep the tour groups down to a manageable size. I am in charge of chaperoning a sub-group of 5 boys (Adam and 4 others). Two of the boys I already know from band concerts, but I don't know anything about the other 2. I'll take my laptop so I should get late-evening / early-morning DIS access.

The teachers who are planning this thing have got our individual tour group schedules really tight. So tight that I don't think it's manageable to do everything they've planned. But that's just my opinion - we'll see how it goes. There are two things that are absolutely "Can't Miss" for me - Changing of the Guard at Arlington Cemetery and the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum. We'll do tours of the White House and of the Capitol - I'm sure those are cool (I've done the WH tour 15 years ago but not the Capitol tour). We'll go to the National Zoo and the National Cathedral. We'll go see the Holocaust Museum too - I'm looking forward to that.

This is too spooky Rob....
we are in the same town,
doing the same thing
(typing a dis message on "under constuction)
and we post at the exact same time... 9:36 !!

Do do dodo, do do dodo

Can you see me?????

:scared:

That sounds fantastic! Can't wait to hear about it! Is it Mon-Fri?

Well, hi there Michele.

Hello to you to GoofyDaddy... I've seen you around but never gotten to say nice to meet you so...

Nice to meet you!

Nice to meet you too!

We leave Wednesday, early-early-early. We have to be at the middle school by 5:30, there's a short chaperone & tour heads meeting at 5:40, we climb on the buses and blow that popsicle stand by 6:00. We get back home late Sunday night - depending on when we leave DC that afternoon. It will be fun. Or it should be fun. The boys I know are good kids - not too rambunctious. I'm not too worried about that, except the fact that I'll be nominally "in charge" of somebody else's kids for a few days.

It sounds like a great trip. You'll have to let us know how it goes! It's always a little stressful to think about being responsible for other people's kids, isn't it? I hope you all have a wonderful time. I bet you'll be exhausted!

The last time I did this sort of thing was a day trip to Sam Houston's homeplace a couple of years ago with Adam's class. I was in charge of about 15 kids. I told them if they got separated, just tell somebody they're with the guy who looks like Brad Pitt and I'd be there in a flash. It worked, the kids called me "Brad" the rest of the day.

(I look nothing like Brad Pitt, for what that's worth)

CJ!!! Don't tie Rella to the likes of me. Although, maybe you're right. Everyone knows Rella is incredibly sweet. Maybe I'm that other side of Rella...

Weren't you the same guy that said your life was boring a few pages back? This sounds great! I would love to go to DC sometime, even if it means chaperoning kids.

Rella -- help me if you see this -- BBQ or Southwest Boulevard Mexican for lunch today? I can't make up my mind.
