whew!

I am sHAkiNG!

I just hauled the kerosene heater out of here, it's sitting on the front walk Well now we really have a redneck AKA swamp Yankee yard!

I was in the dining rm tidying up. Opened the door to the fam rm & out rolled the black smoke I hadn't been out of the room more than 15 minutes!
The heater has never done this before (this is only it's 2nd winter & the fuel & wick are new) and I have had it on two other times today & for a short time last nite = no problemo.
Carp! it looked like a smoke 'backdraft' in here
It was so bad I had to touch the ceiling to make sure it wasn't doing one of those 'hidden' burns
I opened the window--there's a light breeze and 10 degrees out--but the room is cleared of smoke now.

what a freakin' rush!

No dog stories for tonight. Unless you want to hear how she's so desperate for attention, she grabbed a glove and flew through the kitchen into the living room, trying to get someone to chase her.

I'm doing great. We just wrapped up a big project at work so I'm doing no work from my job at all this weekend! Just family and fun time, well, and some chores too.

Welp, I survived the goodbye. I was doing fine until they all started giving me gifts and notes. Kids can express such sincere sentiments that I don't think we as adults can always express. Kids just get my heart. I love the little guys. But, I know they'll be fine and they have other teachers who love them and parents who love them and there are more children out there for me to teach. I am proud to say I did not cry in front of the children. Many of them were crying, but I tried to project the calm assurance that they were so looking for. That was hard, let me tell ya. A line from one of my favorite Carrie Underwood songs: "It's sad, but sometimes moving on with the rest of your life starts with goodbye."
