Mixed Nuts Part 2

I was looking for a pic to post and couldn't find the right one. Then I saw my picture of the Disney ship coming into port. Anyone up for a cruise?

I would love to take a Disney Cruise but DH will NOT even consider it. He's afraid of sinking :sad2:

HI!!! :yay:

How have you been???
I've been good -- just busy and a little stressed with work stuff. But tonight I'm ready to play. Plus, look, I got my siggy and the ability to PM back today.

Today was completely emotionally draining. I feel like I have been thrown against a brick wall. There is this one little girl in my class who I love dearly. She has been through some absolutely horrible things. Things that no adult should ever have to experience, much less a child. No, actually, I take it back. No human being at all should ever have to experience these things. Anyway, she's like my little buddy. She follows me everywhere and she greets me with a big hug every morning and says "I love you Miss Lauren." What a great way to start the day. So today was a really rough day for her, which happens from time to time because of everything she's been through. I sat on the bathroom floor for 45 minutes with her sobbing in my arms and me having no answers for her because sometimes life's just not fair. When she finally stopped crying she said to me "Miss Lauren, promise me you'll never leave me." Tomorrow is my last day. What do you even do with that?

I am going to miss each of these children terribly. I think I had to leave the room to cry 5 times today. I feel like I'm being pulled in so many directions and there's really no right answer. I just have a very unsettled feeling, this all seems so wrong. But, I have come to one major conclusion. At the beginning of this year I had doubts. I wondered if I was sure I wanted to be a teacher. Now I know one thing. That no matter what, if there are children in my life, things will be good.
Awww, PJ. That's both a sad and a great story. It's too bad you weren't able to go through a full year with the same class like a full-time teacher would. I'm glad it sounds like you've found your calling.

Hello! and :welcome:

I don't know you but you obviously know the other nutters.

BTW - any friend of the nuts is considered a nut :teeth:

Hello, friends. It's been a long week! I had a huge project due Wednesday so I didn't sleep Tuesday night. So of course last night I was so dead tired but I woke up I think 10 times because I kept having the same dream over and over that I was running and getting hit by a car. Eventually I gave up and read.

That's scary PJ

I can see how easily one could get emotionally attached. I feel the same way about many of the residents at the retirement home.

Good job PJ :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

You're a natural :goodvibes

Yeah, well, let me tell you what my "beauty" of a "darling dog" did to me last night:

You may have heard about this bad snowstorm we had yesterday. After a 2nd shovel at 7 p.m., I laid my wet coat out in the living room, on the floor, next to the heat. Good thing it was an old coat (as you'll discover). Anyway, I was so cold that I went up and took a very hot bath. Mum got on the phone with her friend. I came back down and Tara was begging for her nightly ice cream cup. So I sat and fed her her ice cream (spoiled brat). Then she immediately trotted off. I went into the kitchen to get myself something to drink and realized that it was much too quiet in the living room. A dog is like a child; when it's quiet, you have to go see what they're up to. I go in and there's Tara, squatting on my coat, peeing on it! I just yelled, "OMG, you did not!" Mum came in, phone in hand, while Tara just nonchalantly walked away like, "Yeah, and what are you going to do about it?" Most dogs have the decency to look ashamed - not mine.

Good thing it's an old coat and it's machine washable. So I had the machine going at 9 p.m. last night.

Welp, I survived the goodbye. I was doing fine until they all started giving me gifts and notes. Kids can express such sincere sentiments that I don't think we as adults can always express. Kids just get my heart. I love the little guys. But, I know they'll be fine and they have other teachers who love them and parents who love them and there are more children out there for me to teach. I am proud to say I did not cry in front of the children. Many of them were crying, but I tried to project the calm assurance that they were so looking for. That was hard, let me tell ya. A line from one of my favorite Carrie Underwood songs: "It's sad, but sometimes moving on with the rest of your life starts with goodbye." My sister is coming to pick me up now so I'll put on my smile and try to focus on that. Sometimes I guess you just have to move on before you really think you're ready, but, if it's what you're supposed to do, it'll all work out.
Hi to everyone and have a great weekend.

Peace.

PJ: Wow! What dedicated self control!
Do you keep scapbooks? Will you be keeping the students' notes to you?

CHERYL!
Your 1st Disney client, how EXCITING! Congrats! :woohoo:
We miss you! Hurry up & win the lottery so you'll have more time to hang out w/us!

Goofy: Hoping yr drive in today was smooth.
What? No jokes?

Liz:
Everyone's a fashion critic! :rotfl2:
Gotta agree on the 'silent dog' thing. As for my dog, every feminine product I have ever thrown in the bathrm wastecan has been dragged out at one time or other, preferably when we have visitors :scared:
Wish I would've gotten that lidded can much earlier!

Rob: You late nite Nut!
Busy at work again, today? Did KC get the big ice/snow storm?

Yet another drive by~

That's Tara, too! She likes to shred anything made of paper...or anything paper-like :rolleyes1

I try to tell her that she's fixed and doesn't need them, but she doesn't listen.

What? No jokes?

My drive this morning was as smooth as a babies bottom, Thanks

and since you asked

A man was sitting on his porch one afternoon when he noticed that his neighbor, Blue, went out to her mailbox, opened it, and returned to her home empty handed.

About five minutes later, he saw Blue again. She checked the mailbox and once again, returned to her house empty handed.

She did this two more times before the man decided to ask her about it. "Why do you keep coming out to your mailbox every five minutes?" the man asked.

"Because," replied Blue, "my computer keeps telling me that I've got mail!"
