Please help. This will be our second trip to Disney it will be me, Dh, DD (17) and DS (3). Last time we went we stayed at POR. This time we thought we would try CBR. We loved POR do you think we will enjoy CBR as much. I don't use Disney transprotation we always rent a car. Please let me know your opinions. Thanks. Michelle

I have stayed at both CBR and POR.

I prefer the theme, layout and all the vegitation of POR.

and the guys (DH & DS) prefer POR and DD and I prefer CBR. I love the "beachy" feel.

I'm sure you'll enjoy either one, but check out my web site full of CBR pictures so you can better see what this resort looks like :)

As California Dreaming said, all of the rooms at CBR have just been refurbished in the last year and they're very nice.

I agree with Catheren. We (myself, husband, and 7 year old daughter) have stayed at both. We much preferred the theming, layout, maintenance, and general pace of POR. IMO, POR has a lot more attention to detail and the buildings are more beautiful. Plus, the boat ride to Downtown Disney is a great bonus! My daughter also loved being able to use both of the themed pools (Ol' Man Island at POR & Doubloon Lagoon at POFQ). We stayed at CBR in March, and, while we liked it very much (it is, after all, a DISNEY Resort!) we will probably opt for POR again the next time we stay at a Moderate. POR just seems a lot more relaxing & "away from it all". CBR really seemed more like a party atmosphere, complete with beer bottles on the beach & in the courtyard in the morning. (CBR IS very pretty, though, with its own charms...like being able to watch parts of IllumiNations while relaxing in a hammock on the beach.)

I also stayed at both and give the edge to CBR. I just love the tropical theme, the pretty pastel colored buildings, walking around the promenade, the sandy beaches with hammocks, newly redone rooms look great.
I love the food court at POR though and the boat ride to DTD is a nice perk, too. It's a tough decision, but I don't think you'd be disappointed at CBR, it's beautiful. Have fun deciding!!:)

I have stayed at both resorts also and I liked CBR much better then POR. I loved the tropical feeling of the resort. It is a beautiful and relaxing place to stay. Even though we now stay at SOG because it is such a deal for us , my heart belongs to CBR.

I think you have to know how much you like "change". We always seem to stay in the mansions section of POR (even though I have requested AB) and as gorgeous as it is, I find my self thinking that I'm a little bored of the same wallpapers, etc. and might have enjoyed something new. (If I knew I could get AB I would book POR because I know the decor would be different. Some folks love knowing what to expect year after year and when their room looks the same they feel as if they're "coming home". That's not me. I like (pleasant) change.

Thanks everyone for your advise. SeaSpray thanks for the great pictures. It looks beautiful there. I think we will give it a try if were unhappy we will never go back. Michelle

If you will be there a week or more, you could always switch in-between. By the way, I have stayed at both and I loved both. They both have such different themes, but both resorts carry off their respective themes quite well. It is almost like comparing apples and oranges.

We also stayed at both resorts and my our preference is with CBR mostly for its theming. I think that it is also a better location than POR. CBR is in the middle of all the action being so close to the lagoon side of epcot enabling you to see the fireworks at night and being just outside MGM as well. The boardwalk is right there too. We really felt like we were on WDW prperty at CBR.

We also have stayed at both POR (it will always be Dixie to us) and CBR. DH and myself prefer Dixie but DD and DS like CBR better. I really liked the theming with the walkways etc. at Dixie and definitely preferred the food court at Dixie.

But I would also recommend trying a resort you haven't been to yet. It is such fun to experience the different resorts. My goal is to stay at each WDW resort in the future.:D

I loved CBR and thought it was fun. I've never stayed at the same resort twice; it helps make each trip a new experience. I'm sure you'll like CBR.
