Mixed Emotions...today we had to put our dog down

My DH has already posted to this thread, but it touched such a place in my heart that I wanted to post as well, I hope you don't mind.

As my DH posted earlier, we lost our beloved Ginger on January 8th, it broke both our hearts.

There is a website that I went to that helped tremendously, Google Rainbow Bridge, and you'll find it.

My prayer for you, is that you and your family go to WDW and surround yourselves in the magic, that only WDW can deliver and know in your heart that your pet is no longer sick and in a better place.

God bless you, you're in my prayers.

So sorry to hear about the loss of your dog. Our Bella died during emergency surgery last March. She was our "entertainer." Our black lab Disney is wonderful, but she's mellow now at age 5.
We were so heartbroken, within 3 weeks we "saved" a 3-month old yellow lab that nobody wanted to buy in a local pet store because of a potential (non-life threatening) surgery she may have needed that would cost $1,500.
We bought her cheap because the pet store didn't think anyone would buy her and was going to return to breeder.
My DH (and me too) swear, the spirit of Bella stayed in our home and when we brought home Tinkerbell, moved right inside her! Tinkerbell has so many behaviors that Bella did, it's unbelievable. She has brought so much joy to our lives after 3 very long weeks of pain and sorrow. She never replaced Bella but we feel like Bella is a part of her. And the vet said she doesn't need the surgery!
Someone told me right after Bella's death to go out and get another dog. At first I couldn't imagine doing that (felt like a traitor), but I feel like this dog found us. She needed us and we needed her!
Enjoy your Disney vacation. And when you return home, watch for a dog who may need you~

someone may have alrady mentioned this idea but my eyes have filled with tears and I can barely read... I lost my dear destiny (cat) of 21 years just before I gave birth to my first daughter. When I was hospitalized, unknown to me, my husband had packed away a picture of her in my bag and it stayed with me on my nightstand the entire time. I enjoyed having it there and knew she was with us. Bring along a favorite picture, your loved one is still with you..
peace

I just wanted to let you know that I am so sad about the loss of your dog. We suddenly lost our 10 year old cocker spaniel, Lacey, 4 years ago and we still miss her. My prayers are with you and your family.

I am sorry for your loss. It is hard to lose a pet. Focus on the bright side, your kids are with you & you have a wonderful trip to focus on.

(Here is my "Debbie Downer" for the day: I am going to DisneyWorld in less than 3 weeks and my two year old won't be with us because he passed away 6 months ago yesterday. We were planning this trip because he (and his big brother) were going to enjoy it so much more than last time (the little guy was sick with a fever during the last trip)).

Just a reminder to keep it in perspective.

I am so terribly sorry. This is truly one of the hardest things a family ever has to bear. May memories of your sweet Dimaggio ease your aching heart.
If you need some great resource info on dealing with this (especially with kids), go to www.petloss.com
It is a wonderful site!
Peace be to all of you. I truly understand your pain, having lived with dogs all my life. However, I know they are all waiting for me at the Bridge.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I have a jack russell named Matty, and I have no idea what I am going to do when they times comes, I almost in tears just thinking about it. So I can only imagine what you are and your family are going through. I wish you all the best and hope that you can find some happiness and joy with your family in WDW.

I'm so sorry for your loss. That Rainbow Bridge poem always makes me cry, but it's so true. :sad1:

It's never easy to lose our furry family members. They bring so much to our lives. Always happy to see us. Always ready to love. I've worked in a veterinary hospital for 15 years and the loss the families feel is the hardest part. My best advise is to try not to focus on the last few weeks but on the wonderful memories you must have. Tell fun stories together and keep them in your heart. Then have a great family vacation at WDW. It's just what the doctor ordered!
