What's your specialty drink and how do you make it? We're having friends over next week for a cocktail party and I'd like to learn how to make some drinks. Any ideas?

I love Mojito's......and there are many recipes for this on the web..

Scale ingredients to servings
3 fresh mint sprigs
2 tsp sugar
3 tbsp fresh lime juice
1 1/2 oz light rum
club soda

In a tall thin glass, crush part of the mint with a fork to coat the inside. Add the sugar and lime juice and stir thoroughly. Top with ice. Add rum and mix. Top off with *chilled* club soda (or seltzer). Add a lemon slice and the remaining mint, and serve.

I'd suggest making a couple pitchers of drinks, such as a pitcher of Sangria, a pitcher of Mohitos, and a pitcher of Cosmopolitans.

Most people usually drink what I call "And" drinks that are easy to make. Rum and Coke. Gin and tonic. Amaretto (and) sour.

Margarita!!

Rub a lime around the rim of the glass, dip in salt. Pour in 1 part tequila and 5 parts Margarita mix, add ice cubes.

My "specialty" drink is vodka and soda. Its easy to make, its vodka and a splash of soda water. Sometimes I'll throw in a splash of cranberry too.

I was a bartender for years and as a result, I don't like sweet drinks. I've seen far too many drunk people who didn't realize how drunk they were getting because the alcohol was masked by the sweet ingrediants in the drink. I can make just about any drink there is though, and we always have the main liquors on hand when we have a party. What I used to do as a bartender was put all my drink recipes in a rolodex and anytime someone asked me for something I didn't remember how to make all I had to do was flip to it in my rolodex.

Sangria and Margarita's. Yummy!

I love all kinds of margarita's and I love to try all different kinds. I'm kind of like a margarita connoisseur!

IT's not a specialty, but it's very festive. Three parts sparkling wine to one part cranberry juice garnished with fresh cranberries. It works well with the cheap stuff the inlaws always bring over that I don't normally care for.Not that I buy the expensive stuff.

No name for it we just made it up call it the fruity rum drink

1 shot mango rum
1 shot light rum
Dole strawberry banana orange juice
a little diet sprite

Drink in my DCL hurricane glass and you can almost hear the ocean. :)

If I'm doing the mixing I keep it simple: rum and coke with extra lime. I also like mojitos, but I had so many at my wedding in June that I can't even think about one now without getting a little dizzy.

If I am out it's vanilla vodka with diet coke. If I am home it's vanilla vodka and coke zero. The backup is either orange vodka or regular vodka, 7-up and a splash of orange juice.

And I can't turn down a shot of tequilla... :thumbsup2

I make a mean pomejito. A mojito with a splash of pomegranate juice. A pamatini, and my sangrias are always a hit.

Every year I try to make a special holiday drink for Thanksgiving and Christmas. There's one called a drunken elf I was considering and also a pumpkin or poinsetta martini.

My favorite frou-frou drink is vodka, 7up and a bit of pureed peaches. mmmmm yummy, add an umbrella and a plastic animal dangling from the side for extra fun!

Starbucks liquor, and vanilla vodka. A great dessert drink.

(I don't know what this is called- actually much better than it sounds)
Tall glass, w/ crushed ice.
Sprig of mint
1-2 shots of white tequilla
fill glass w/ light beer.

Our current ones are Mojitos and Killer Sangria. However, my other one is the pineapple Fizz: equal parts ginger ale and pineapple juice with a shot of Southern Comfort.

We also like to do Greyhounds, Madras, Sea and Bay Breezes. Vodka, Cranberry Juice and either Orange Juice, Grapefruit or Pineapple Juice.

My coworkers are big fans of Bellinis and Mimosas-champagne with either pureed peaches or OJ and triple sec. We've had saturday night cocktails while closing for a while. Now that I'm heading to a new venture, I had to promise I'd meet them for a drink on Saturday nights. Not the same as me mixing for them, though! :teeth:

Oh, mind sharing your recipes! I'm throwing a lingerie shower for my sister on December 28th and am looking for a special drink to make for it!

Lately, I've been loving pineapple rum and 7up....YUMMY!!!!!!

My favorite is a highball glass full of ice cold vodka - 2 ice cubes - Twisted lime peel. :rolleyes1

For those of you who do not wish to miss this party try this, it is always a hit:

Drunken Irishman
1 part kahlua
2 parts Baileys Irish cream
3 Parts cream
Serve over ice

For Christmas try This Version
Drunken Irishman's Snowball :woohoo:
1 part kahlua
2 parts Baileys Irish cream
3 Parts cream
Serve over crushed ice

It's a hell of a slushy :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :faint:

Heres one I forgot, This will go over amazing:

Chocolate Suicide

1 ounce Baileys Irish Cream
1 ounce Vodka
1 ounce Creme De'Cocoa
1 ounce Hersheys chocolate syrup
3 heaping tablespoons chocolate Ovaltine
1 cup whole milk

makes two large shakes.

put everything in a blender add ice blend adding more ice until the consistency is that of a thick shake.

And if you prefer a malted shake use Malt flavor ovaltine instead of chocolate

I used to work for the Ovaltine company and the little bar around the coener from the plant used to make these for us.

Here's my most recent concoction:

One Part Vanilla Vodka
One Part Sour Apple Martini Mix
One Part Limoncello

Pour all in a small pitcher with ice and stir (don't shake). Serve in a chilled martini glass with a cherry or lime wedge.

I call it a Sour Cello.

:rotfl:

If you steal this recipe you owe me bucks :furious:
