mix max questions

I have found a mix max for a good price. My ds wants an "ipod with a screen" for his b-day but that is not going to happen.

Can we download videos and music onto the mix max? Or do you have to get pre-recorded chips to put in it? I want flexibility to load music on it that he liukes as well as a video or two

I think there are some free trials before you have to purchase the software so you can get a feel for it.

and load them on a 2gb sd card ..... purchased at great prices at Big Lots.

We have also downloaded free books from the library and now have a nice library of "chips" w/movies, etc.

We put movies...etc on ours and we use Windows Media Player. We haven't tried ripping our own DVDs though....since they have a PSP with movies, they haven't really wanted them on the Mix Max.

Technically you can put your own movies (from dvd's) onto a memory card and play it on your mix max. It is very time consuming and kind of a pain if you aren't too tech savvy. You can buy the pre-loaded cards, but there aren't too many choices and they are costly. The mix max also doesn't have a very large memory. We had a mix max for 2 years and have now upgraded to an ipod nano. I bought it refurbised directly from the apple website for a great price and it comes with the same warranty as buying brand new. The outside casing, cables etc are all new as well. Loading music and movies on the ipod was much easier than the mix max as well.

I also use magicdvdripper it is super easy, they have a choice that says mixmax. You get 5 free trials to open it. I open it once and rip a bunch of movies before I close it. In the 5 free trials I have done over 50 movies and still have one trial to open left!
