Mix in time for After Dark Events

Half-jokingly, I asked DH if he wanted to take me to throwback night, and he said, YES! A 14 hr roundtrip drive to attend a 4-hour event is insanity, but we need a little getaway, and sometimes you just need to be insane. I'm wondering what we can expect from the mix in time. We can enter at 6pm and the event starts at 9pm. My only experience with an after-hours event was OBB, where the mix in time was pure craziness. Is DL the same level of madness, or is it not as bad because the event starts later? Would riding RISE before the party be a possibility?

We were there a couple weeks ago with Sweetheart nights. Lines to get into the park during that mix-in time didn't seem too crazy to me. Probably because not everyone is going to arrive at the exact same time. I saw a lot of people with lanyards in that 6pm-8pm range while we were there. They were in line for rides just like us non-party guests so I assume you could hit up Rise if you wanted though the standby time would be long. I'm guessing you could buy an ILL for it before 8pm (if there were any available) but don't quote me on that.

Are all the lands open during Disney After Dark? Years ago, we did a Christmas Party at WDW and I swear only Fantastyland and Tomorrowland were open. Want to go to throwback night!
