Mister Fans and UPS- Resolved

I am so upset right now I could just spit.

Last week I ordered 3 of the O2Cool Mini Mister Fans from an online store. Today, UPS says they delivered them. Except they didn't. I was sitting on my couch in my living room with my blinds open at the time their website says they were delivered. No UPS truck came down my drive, no one knocked on my door. I called UPS and their automated system says the package was left at my front door. Uh, no. So, I talked to a rep, she told me to "check with neighbors and then contact the shipper and get them to contact [UPS] to start a trace on the package"... We leave for Disney next weekend, so that's gonna be a problem. And it's not like I don't KNOW they didn't leave the package with my neighbors (I live on a cul-de-sac driveway shared by several homes, I'd have seen the truck). She told me she wouldn't even check with the driver about the package, that that's not what they do.

I ordered these fans 'cause I'd heard good things about them. I couldn't find them anywhere but online, where 3 of them + shipping cost me $30 and a week to get here. If I re-order it'll cost me more because I'll have to rush shipping. None of my local stores have them at all. I'm really sensitive to heat, so I kinda need something, and found that I never used the bigger fans 'cause I couldn't wear them without them irritating my neck, so.. Plus, I'm afraid to re-order for fear that the next ones will magically go missing, too.

So, other than venting, I wanted to ask if anyone knows where I can get these? Or if anyone had any suggestions on anything else? Or if anyone knows how I can track down a UPS guy for interrogation? :furious: :rotfl2: Ya know, it's not that I even think he stole it, I just would like some idea of what happened. :confused3

That just stinks!!

This is where I had ordered mine from:
http://www.epartyunlimited.com/key-chain-water-misting-fan.html

But that shows they are currently sold out. They do work great and much easier to handle and carry than those big water bottles (esp. since they just clip onto your bag)

I'll cross my fingers and toes that yours show up before you leave!

Have you tried Ebay?? :confused3

Good luck with finding out where they went! :goodvibes

Yep, tried eBay previously and just searched again, not one like the O2's I ordered (I guess people don't like to part with their O2s), just a type I've seen before that I know doesn't really work well and some of the bigger ones. Thanks for the suggestion, though. :thumbsup2

I'm really not trying to sound like a whiner, I promise. :) :sad1:

Sorry, but you guys got killed with the price on those... :guilty:

I got the exact same keychain ones (exact) at Walmart for $2.47 each. They did have the larger ones for $4, but I wanted the small one on a keychain.

They were hanging on the side of an end cap. each walmart store had them in a different location.

I know I got killed, that's why I looked everywhere first. :goodvibes

My local Wal-marts (3) didn't have them when I went looking.

Does anyone else's have them now?

I had a similar UPS experience. I ordered a dress that I wanted to wear to an event the next weekend. I traced the package and the UPS site said it was delivered. I checked out front and there was nothing. I called and the customer service rep said to check around my house and look over the fence. The Fence! Not once has UPS ever chucked a delivery over the fence into my backyard! Anyway, I went to sleep feeling pretty frustrated that night. I woke up the next morning and noticed a box on my front porch. Sure enough, it was the missing box. I'm not sure where it came from, but there it was.

Hopefully you will have a similar experience. :)

Call the company you ordered them from too. They surely have a contract with UPS, maybe they can light a fire under them. UPS works for THEM, and THEY work for YOU.

Ask the company to send replacements ASAP-express!!

If they can not be located or replacements sent ASAP, demand a credit, and dispute the charge. May not give you the fans, but at least you can get your money back.

Also, I've known Fed Ex (I know not UPS) to say it was delivered, and it would still be on the truck and I would get it the next day.

Keep calling UPS repeatedly and if you can find some sort of leverage that strikes fear - even better. I am a pharmacy tech in Minnesota and to make a long story short UPS once shipped our drug order to cincinnati instead of Minneapolis. They insisted that it was delivered to our store. We checked literally with every employee in the store who can sign for packages and no one got our order. We had the package tracked and it said it was delivered to us. As the Order Tech it was my job to get it back from UPS. Several phone calls and a threat to notify the DEA of our missing controlled substances they magicall found our box in Cincinnati. Hope you get it and have a nice trip.

We found ours in Rite Aid on an end cap in front of the registers. I had spent several hours that day looking for them in various stores, that was my last store I was willing to check, and voila!

By the way, I spent 2.5 hours on the phone with Dell last night pretty much demanding they track down a replacement battery for me and compensate me after waiting 3 weeks, making 4 calls, and getting on chatsupport once. I didn't think it would happen, but it did - they are sending me a free AC adapter to, as I put it, "demonstrate a good faith effort that you genuinely DO care about my business and will do more for me than have every person I talk to on the phone apologize." If I could get Dell to treat me with respect as a customer, I think anyone could do the same with any company!

All that being said, I highly encourage you to call back and speak firmly but kindly (a tough thing!) to both the online store and UPS daily until it shows up. Remind them that you opted to buy a relatively cheap item for a higher cost and ask them if they would consider expressing some new fans or at least helping you track down the order as a measure of good faith and an example of good customer service about which you will brag to your friends and family. Good PR can't be beat, and neither can bad PR - and we all know that companies know that. Again, be firm but also kind and hopefully pixie dust will find you even before you land in Orlando.

If all else fails, check the Rite Aids, Walgreens, Walmarts etc. near the parks - I'd imagine they'd carry things like this since they are in such a hot tourist area.

Best wishes! (And let us know how it turns out)

Ack! I thought I had lost my thread, too.. but it just *poofed* over here to the Community Board. Um, okay. :sunny:

Yeah, I'm going to call UPS again tomorrow and try to contact the store I purchased them from. I'm not really counting on getting it resolved before we head out. And we still can't find them around here.

Anyone have any they're willing to part with for a reasonable price? :badpc: :rotfl: No, really, I'm only half kidding. And you know what makes the whole thing kind of doubly sad and pathetic? I'd been all excited waiting for those to get here. I was actually more excited about this than about my MNSSHP tickets. :sad2:

I would bet money that they would have them at either of the superwalmarts.

Good luck :thumbsup2

Actually, we checked both local SuperWalmarts and the regular one last night and none have them, although all remember carrying them earlier this year. :sad2: My fault for not getting them sooner, I guess.. you know, I don't think I even knew about them until they were gone from our local Walmarts.. I always manage to miss stuff- I just got my first pair of Crocs a few weeks ago, that's how behind I am. :rotfl2:

I'm going to call UPS again today and contact the company I bought them from. We'll see what happens.

I can't believe they won't ask the driver for you. Our ups driver brings sheets all the time to verify whether or not we rec'd a pkg. Also if someone did sign for it they have access to their signature. One day I ordered something to go to my home and over a week went by and I didn't get it. Called Von Maur they researched it. Turned out ups left it at the back door. I never thought to check there!

Well, I got my fans! :sunny: The delivered them to some random address down the road (not even on my little cul-de-sac which has about 8 homes other than mine). It was soooo nice of the guy to bring them over. I thanked him profusely! He seemed kind of confused by how happy I was. :rotfl:

Glad to hear that the fans were delivered. Did you call UPS and tell them where they REALLY were?
