I usually set the cruise and make the 17 hour drive no problem. However, first time pulling a 30 ft TT, so I'm going to force myself to pull over for 3 or 4 hours to rejuvenate. I'm sure the added stress (and reduced speed) of towing will take its toll, and safety is paramount. Are there any decent places 1 to 2 hours North or South of Alanta? Thanks.

There is a large rest area south of ATL (maybe 1 hr) and numerous large truckstops along the way. I have never had an issue with safety, but also I am always packing heat too. Watch out for weirdos and try not to put yourself in a bad situation....that's my usual gameplan.

There is a Flying J in Resaca, GA, exit 320 on I-75. It is about an hour or so north of Atlanta. We have stopped there serveral times to refuel and eat. Never slept there but they do have RV parking (and overnight parking). Also a Flying J in Jackson, GA., south of Altanta. We have slept there, a welcome break after driving through Atlanta(it isn't really that bad). We live in Florissant and make our first refueling stop at the Flying J in Oak Grove, KY at exit 86 on I-24, then at Resaca, than Jackson. Nice spacing, my fuel tank and butt are both ready for the stops. Good luck.

I am out of STL. It's a FULL day to atlanta with 3 kids, 650 miles and stay at the KOA in foryseth. Leave here around 6 am and get in around 6-8 pm est there. It is atleast an easy 14 hours.

They have pull throughs, little tight, but quick back to the road headed south to wdw. try to buy gas further south it's 10-20 cent a gallon cheaper.

From atlanta to FW it's 450 mile and if we are one the road by 7 am we are at FW around 4 or 5. We make a few pit stop for the kids to get out and run at the rest stops. I have thought about driving through, but you are not really gaining that much more with check time after 3 pm(???). We have made it early enough to FW where we had to wait for our site.
