Misson Space soft open late June ???

I was at WDWMAGIC and they had a rumor that MS may soft open mid to late June !!! I provided a link to that rumor. I hope doing that is not breaking some rule. If it is true maybe i will get to ride we will be at WDW 06/22/03 - 06/26/03.

Let's hope the rumour comes to fruition. I would think Disney would want the ride opened during the summer to increase park attendance. I sure hope it is open if I go.

By Disney's own admission soft opening will begin August 15, 2003.

Lake Buena Vista, Fla. (April 22, 2003) Al Weiss, president of the Walt Disney World Resort, announced today at Epcot that Mission:SPACE would have its soft opening on August 15, 2003. The attraction is set to officially open in October 2003, probably in time for the big media event around October 9. Al Weiss was VERY enthusiastic about the new attraction, and seems to think it could be one of the greatest attractions in the world.

Thanks Punch! Any optimisim can be exciting and with Disney & soft openigs you just never know.

It's cool to know that ME & the big wigs have ridden it and we didn't hear of any hurling yet!

I am hugely excited about this 'lame ole spinner' (as the naysayers call it) but I still think I'll be taking lots of dramamine before I go on it!!! I can't wait for some personal accounts...Any CM's ready to share yet???

I don't know about June, but Disney did announce at a recent media preview event that MS may very well open "on-and-off" prior to the 8/15 date.

Rock n Roller coaster had these "Off and On" days back in 1999 before it really had a Soft Opening.

How do you know about these soft openings? Do you just walk by and see if they are letting people on? Or is there a sign at the park entrance? Or can you find out at your resort? Just curious, we are there the first week of July. That would be too nice to catch a ride!!!!

We were at WDW and just happened to catch a soft opening of Rockin Roller Coaster! We were headed for TOT and decided just to look to see if anything was happening at R&R on the night of July2 and we couldn't believe that it was open for a few hours and we rode several times that evening.! The lines were not long because most people didn't believe that it was open yet. We will also be there late June and hope for at least one ride, but who knows?
