Getting ready for my vacation in a couple of weeks and I'd like to try the new green version of MS. I think green is the tamer one, correct? I've never tried the original version as I can't even ride the teacups without feeling sick. I can tolerate all the other rides at WDW except spinning rides. How does the green side compare to other rides. What exactly does it do? I just don't want to ride it and ruin the rest of my day by feeling sick afterward.

Green Team (low intensity) = No centrifuge spinning at all.
(The centrifuge spin is what gives M:S "Orange" Team (full intensity) side
the simulated extra gravity and loss-of-gravity effects that make some guests feel ill.)

The capsules only TILT a bit in sync with the video screen images.

Less "intense" than even Star Tours.

The green version is very "tame" in comparison with the orange version. I do the green all the time. I can NOT, however, do Star Tours. I seriously yarked up lunch after that one, so never again:sick:  !

Thanks for the responses. I feel better about trying it now. I can do Star Tours. Body Wars, however, used to make me feel a bit off, but not really sick.

Hi!

Several years ago hubby and I did the orange team (this was before they offered the green team) and we came out holding onto the walls. And we said never again.

This past January we did the green team and actually did Mission Space twice! It was great! Loads of fun!

I can't even LOOK at MISSION SPACE without feeling woozy. I went on it 3 years ago before the milder version was available. I was the only adult with 3 terrified kids. Well don't you know, upon leaving the ride, the kids had a blast (pun intended) and I literally thought I was going to die. I don't do "spinning rides either but I was in no way prepared for the sensation I experienced on this trip into space. GREAT special effects tho so I would imagine you will enjoy the green team experience.
I did EPCOT on a Monday. For the rest of the week every ride I went on that spun even ever so slightly had me turning green. The post-traumatic effect of my Mission Space experience lingered for quite awhile!

GO GREEN!!!

: )

LuvsTig - I feel your sickness as I read your post! Honestly, just reading about it is enough to make me feel ill. I'm so glad they came out with the milder version so at least I can experience it somewhat.

I did the green tame version and I still get :scared: thinking about it...however, I can say I tried it...

Green=piece of cake for us.
Us=80 year old with an iffy heart..., 2 5 year olds, a 55 year old, and moi.
We didn't see any reason why a person would feel ill (unless they are claustrophobic). The only thing that made us ill was the wait time was listed at 5 minutes and we waited 30, making us late for our ADR at GG.;)

I bet you will like it just fine!!

The other thing the green side has going for it...shorter line!!! :cool1:

We rode it last Monday and green was a 5 minute wait and orange was posted as 20 minutes.

The green, while tamer, STILL gives some very cool feelings. The orange one the only thing you really get is more G's and the feeling that your eyeballs want to keep spinning around in your head :D

Go ORANGE! Just very simply look straight ahead at the screen. Your ear will NEVER know it is spinning around a room. All the forces are into your seat. Now glance from side to side...well then you may be toast.

I don't spin either (well I did this weekend at SixFlags a little, but it was enough to remind that I don't). And I LOVE Orange! It is not the 'spinning' that gets you, it is the eye/ear seeing the world go by that'll do it...

I can't do the Teacups and was super nervous:scared: about doing Mission Space regardless of the color. My husband and boys wanted to ride it as a family so I gave the green my best and bravest try! NO SWEAT! :woohoo: You will love it! Not even a speck of queasiness! Good luck!

What about those of us with claustrophobia? I was advised a few years ago to avoid MS because I don't do well in small, enclosed spaces. Can anyone comment?

A word on the spinning (which bothers DH but he's been successful on MS) this is different because you can't "see" the spin. Nothing is whizzing past you or disorienting about it. If you are brave enough try it as a last ride before leaving, that's how DH tackles most new spinning rides.

If you are claustrophbic, this might be tough for you. At first I had to talk myself out of freaking out (it is very tight in the capsule). However, once the ride starts they blow cold air on your face (which helps with the claustrophobia) and you get into the mission.

I did green and the only complaint I had was that it was TOO Tame. It really was so mild, I was disappointed. Having said that I get dizzy on simulators and didn't get an ounce of dizzniess on this one.

It's good to see it, because I don't think I could do the orange, but it is not a very exciting ride. Especially the fact that it cost so much money to build.
