After that accident, is Mission Space still open? After that boy died I heard it was still open but no word lately. Did they ever determine what was responsible for the boys death?

Yes, it's open.

The autopsy reports will not be available for another week or two, so the cause of death has not yet been determined.

It was open the next morning after they determined it was operating normally.

I went around the 4th of July. No lines for Mission Space.

Nothing conclusive. I've ridden the ride several times with no adverse affects. Accidents happen.

 The 1st and only time I was on MS, my face turned green and I felt sooooo sick. It was fun for a few seconds. I really didn't expect to feel that way, butI wont ever go on it again. I remember there were no water fountains or bathrooms close by to even try to get myself to feel better.

We were on it a few times (in a row!) last week. It was one of the few rides we like that did not shut down at some point during our visit.

i rode mission space last week, and i have to admit, even though i'm not a squeamish person it made me SOOOOOOO sick :( aside from the stomach virus DD gave me this past spring, i've NEVER felt so sick in ALL my life and i'd NEVER go anywhere near mission space again! i broke out in a cold sweat to the point my clothes were totally soaked and DH and DD had to walk with me to the bathroom outside Test Track then into Mousegears, where it was cool enough for me to spend some time recovering on the bench outside the changing rooms. i didn't feel any better for about 3 hours-nothing like that has ever happened to me before. i saw a story on the orlando news while at WDW about the boy who died this past summer...poor thing, i hope his cause of death can be established.

Donya
*wishes she were still in WDW* :(

My parents went on their first trip to WDW in May. My dad was so psyched about this ride. He went on it alone because he wanted to preview it before my mom got on. He came off so darn sick. They went back to their room where he threw up for the rest of the afternoon. It really ruined the vacation for them. They didnt try any other rides. Just walked around, visited shops etc the rest of the trip.

My dad is by no means an old man either! He loves his coasters and is in his 50's. They went right before the accident so they had never heard of people getting sick on this ride.

:(

When this attraction first opened, the G forces were even more intense! Believe it or not, MS has been tamed down a lot. I also believe it was reported that the little boy from Pennsylvania has a pre existing heart condition that had not been diagnosed.

I am right there w/ you!!! I had to back to our hotel and lay down! :sad2:

On Sunday 10/02 at 11:30am, Soarin' was 70 minutes wait, Living with the Land was 30 minutes wait, Test Track was 50 minutes wait, but Mission: Space was only 20 minutes wait.

We noticed that pattern many times during our stay last week. When Soarin' had a 30 minute wait, Mission: Space only had a 10 minute wait. There shouldn't be a problem getting on because many people opt to go to Soarin' and too many people had problems riding it so they won't be repeat riders.

I rode M:S about a week after it opened, and let me tell you: You couldn't PAY me to ride again. I was extremely nauseous for about an hour after (lucky for me, my breakfast didn't make a repeat appearance) and was physically exhausted for the rest of the day. I'd never had this type of reaction to any ride in my life.

Mission Space is a fun little ride and not very scary. It did induce bad motion sickness in me. It took me 3-4 hours to shake it and then the next morning flying home we hit bad turbulence and the motion sickness returned. I normally only get motion sick at sea in very rough weather, and never get it on planes or WDW rides (even Star Tours doesn't make me dizzy). Guess I don't have the "right stuff".

I do like Gary Sinese as Mission Control. He's great at that role.

I've never had a bad experience with Mission: Space myself... but then again, I'm not overly prone to motion sickness either. I did come close once when I started looking around during liftoff (yep, played the role of the idiot that time), but even then it was nothing major.

Heck, one night during EMH my DW and I rode it twice in a row (but we decided against a third time).

In Feb 04 dd then 5 and I rode Mission Space first thing in the morning. A CM at ASMo said it was best to ride it on an empty stomach. We went during EMH and we only had a coffe and juice. We didn't have a problem, but I did get a little dizzy. DD wanted to do it again!
