Mission space blech!

So when was the Green side updated??? We rode it in December 2016 and we thought it was fun? My 13 year old wants to do the Orange side on our trip in August but I'm too afraid since I get sick on any ride that has spinning. I'm not sure if Orange side has spinning, but I'm too scared to chance it.

I liked it prior to the change, as well. I had no idea they were changing it until we rode it. It was a let down.

I also had no idea that you could get stuck inside, just something I never thought of. Yeah, this is off my list permanently now. May I ask how long you were in there for? I'm starting to feel anxious just thinking about it. The new version is not worth that chance. Actually, even the old version wasn't worth that ...

I think it was 5 minutes? Felt like a lot longer though. I was riding with a group of strangers (Mom doesn't really do thrill rides or simulators), so I felt a little isolated. I'm also not one to panic too easily, but I was pretty close to a breakdown in there. I mean, they seemed like lovely people, but I still didn't know them. I don't think I'd ride it again.

That is too bad. I love it. I don’t get dizzy, disoriented or nauseous at all. But everyone is different! A couple members of our group won’t ride it anymore.

I am curious, did you ignore all the warnings before boarding? Or did you still think it wouldn’t be that bad? I think the constant warnings for orange cover their bases regarding motion and intensity and then some. I love the ride and sometimes all those warnings make me second guess myself! :)
Yes; read all the warnings. But you get similar warnings in all simulator rides. So I expected it to be something akin to star tours. As soon as we got into the vessel and I saw the barf bags, I started to think...uh oh.

We did the Orange side on our last trip and that was the closest I came to actually throwing up on any ride in WDW or DL. Orange is a hard pass for me but I think I'll let DH and DS ride orange while I go for green this time.

Oh my gosh! I would just die! I can imagine 5 minutes felt like an eternity knowing you were locked in. I was picturing being locked in with my family, at least. With strangers, even nice ones, I would have a panic attack for sure. I do have anxiety/panic disorder but not usually claustrophobic. This would definitely bring out that in me. Thank you for mentioning this, as I will just avoid this ride in the future. You may have saved me a heart attack or at least a serious panic attack.

We got stuck too. I did not consider myself claustrophobic until that moment. There was a recording that kept saying "Your mission has been delayed" and I seem to remember a fan blowing cool air on us. We have ridden both sides but I think this happened on green. I believe that it lasted about 5 minutes but seemed like an eternity.

OMG. The cold air blowing would be my saving grace, but I am still having some serious anxiety just reading these posts of this happening to people. Yeah, I will not be on that again. Ever.

No problem! Glad I could help out. I do have mild anxiety myself, but not claustrophobia. I've ridden it before with no problems and it never occurred to me that I could get trapped. My anxiety is usually more social based, so I never thought I would panic under those circumstances. Well, now I know, at least. And I did manage to keep it together, but barely.

Glad to know we were not alone in hating this ride, lol! Afterward my husband said that chest pressure was caused by being centerfugally spun. That simply cannot be good for you.

I’ve never really appreciated Mission Space. It has an awfull lot of technology with little payoff. The screens are tiny, it’s confusing, and the G forces are just not pleasant for a lot of folks. I’m not prone to motion sickness at all but this was the one ride during our very first visit that actually gave me a bit of a “whoa” feeling. I like the acceleration of Rockn roller coaster 100x better!

I wouldn’t mind them replacing this attraction completely. Epcot needs more headliners and I think this one, at least in my opinion, was a fail. It looks amazing from the outside but it just does not pay off.

It only just changed last year. The Green is now much less interesting than the Orange side. Before they used to have the same story and I didn't miss the G-forces at all.

I just rode green with my kids last week and they loved It! They wanted to ride again but we never made it back. Um glad they liked it that much. I could definitely do without but when I'm with them it's fun to see them excited.

I'm finally ok with the green. I might have to take a few more rides before I give the orange a shot.

I rode it before they created two sides. I had read to keep your eyes open and focused ahead and to remember to keep breathing. I was fine.

I enjoy the Orange side. I think it is pretty cool and I think that it would be very cool to youngsters. I did try the Green first and thought it wasn't so bad so immediately went on the Orange side--Big mistake. Friend and I were definitely dizzy and a little nauseous after the back-to-back rides.

I did recently ride Green to see the new film and I thought it was nice.

My sons love the Orange side. I won't try it, they go on with my husband. Last trip, my sister's friend was with us...I warned her about it, but she said she never gets motion sickness. She was green when she came off and felt severaly dizzy and nauseous for hours. It ruined the food and wine festival for her for the day, and she was apprehensive to get on other rides for the rest of the trip.
