Yeah! I'm turning 40 but have no iea to celebrate with my family and friends. I live in San Diego and am the youngest of 9 kids so it's especially important to me to celebrate this passing because it is a passing for all of us. We are all getting old. I am also going to be the first grandma in my family this august.
OK! with that said I want to do something super fun, maybe a little different. DH and I would like to have it at our house but feel we may not be able to accomplish the clean-up / organization before the date with our given schedules. I still think we could do this if I hired out a 1-time maid service or had some baby-sitting help.
Another option is a restaurant but because there is a large group, this becomes unmanageable at a restaurant -- and very expensive. One of the problems is that my husband and I differ on this one. I feel that people shouldn't have to pay when they go to a restaurant for your birthday but my husband feels this is unreasonable. I know everyone in my family agrees with him but I still feel weird asking people to come to my party and, by the way, it'll cost you $12.50 a person... There are also a lot of kids of varying ages in the extended family.
Here in San Diego there are a lot of cool things to do but the weather may not work for us this time of year.
So the mission, if you choose to accept it, is a dynamic party that people will talk about until the end of their lives. Something super-fun and interesting yet economical (No real budget has been established, it's mainly about value but it would have to be under $300 - $400 for about 30-40 people, preferably much less.)
Also, my birthday is March 13th but would probably plan the party for March 18th or 19th.
