How many of you have shared your Disney vacation with others? Couldn't wait to spread the magic?

As I mentioned earlier, we are veterans in this department, too. Never quite learning our lesson. Still, what I HAVE learned.

There are two types of ideal traveling companion, one preferable to the other:

Perfect Travel Companion: Enthusiastic, willing to share the load (whether it is financial, research, luggage, etc.), fun, flexible, logical, with a sunny disposition. If you don't see these characteristics in daily life, you will assuredly not see them on vacation. (My sister, My mother, DS16)

In the absence of perfection, Next Best Travel Companion - total compliance and submission. They admit they don't care about planning or details (and they mean it) and cheerfully go along for the ride without complaint, grateful that someone else has done all of the work. (My brother, SIL, DSF13)

Everything in between is a mixed bag of good times and conflict, which sounds more like work than fun, because it IS more like work than fun (although you generally only remember the good times).

DSF13 was a Next Best Travel Companion. Not one complaint. Grateful for everything. And he "gets it." How do I know?

DS14 and DSF13 started their vacation on 6/22. On 6/23, we went to MK. 6/24, we went to BB in the morning and TL in the afternoon. 6/25-28, DS14 and DSF13 did 4 straight Universal days. On 6/29, we went to Epcot for a whirlwind morning through MS and TT, getting to the Teppanyaki Room for lunch. DSF13 has never been to Disney before this trip. He has never been to a Japanese restaurant before. As we settled ourselves at the grill, and washed our hands with hot washclothes, DSF13 took a long look around, placed his washcloth on the table and said, "Ah, Disney."

He gets it.

Disney is different. Total immersion. Magic.

Knowing this was his last (major) meal before leaving the next day, he said, "I just wish my Mom could have seen everything I saw this week."

He really does get it.

Every once in awhile, the fruits of sharing are totally painless.

Sounds like my kind of guy! Hopefully my DS's will find a great friend that we can take too! I love spreading a little magic!

He gets it, but you gave it. Both are very special! Enjoyed all of your reports.

For the trip report writing encouragement...

And the perspective.... I hadn't thought of it that way.

I am really enjoying all your reports. I like the way you have kept them all separate yet cohesive.

Thank you :) :) :)

I love your format.

One of my favorite things to do is read trip reports...but it sometimes gets old reading "first we road SM, then onto BTMR, etc"

Your style is great and your descriptions are right on (brings me right to where you are).

Thanks for taking the time to do this...I know there are many other lurkers like me who are enjoying this!

I usually wait until the end of a report to comment...but this post made me smile.

Doesn't it feel great when someone else "Gets It".

Ah, Disney.....

I am afraid that I have been "guilty" of enjoying so many trip reports without commenting (lurking) on them. I didn't realize until writing trip reports myself, that you don't know whether to keep going or if you are boring people until someone lets you know.

I guess I'll keep going, although there are only a few more experiences to document - like Universal, Nascar / Kithchen, etc. If nothing else, I will have a great memory for my family!
