Hi everyone - my family got back from 2 weeks at AKL 10 days ago, and I think I'm in severe withdrawal!! I can't seem to get myself back into the flow of things; I just keep thinking about how great it was! This is my first time (since I was a kid), and my kid's first time, and it was AWESOME!!! What do you all think? Is there hope for me? Heeeeeellllllpppppp!:confused3

Well maybe we can form a support group :grouphug: ....I got back from Disney nearly two months ago and i'm so home sick it's not funny. I'm the same....first trip since I was a kid and my dd's first time. I can't stay away from the Dis Boards and I've already got a computer file titled Future Itinerary! I'm entering as many trip contests as I can find to try and get me back there. In fact I told hubby we'd better get our passports for each other as Christmas presents so we'll be prepares. We are planning another trip but not until 2011 :sad1:

Count me in the "home sick" group as well. I keep thinking of a way to try and squeeze in another trip sometime in December or January but the airfare isn't cheap.

Count me in as well. Got back from AKL 3 weeks ago and want to go back so bad. Hoping for next year but reality might be 2009.

Disney anonymous maybe? Nah I can’t join a Anonymous group that would mean I have a problem .. and I don’t think liking Disney as much as I do is a problem yet! (notice I said *yet*) however I am sure my wife would like to vacation somewhere other then Disney … however … for me there is only Disney!

So embrace your love and book another trip 

Next time you go buy AP's, it kinda makes the next trip a must so you don't let the passes go to waste.:confused3

Actually I spend alot of time on the DIS boards as well as other sites looking for discounts and ideas on how to get back sooner.

See, the big problem is that we went all-out on this trip, sort of thinking that it would be a once in a lifetime thing. We saved for 2 years for this trip, stayed at concierge level AKL, went to all the character meals, and so on and so on! Now I'm afraid that we've set the bar so high that we could never go back at stay at one of the value resorts, or even off site! I never thought I'd fall in love the way I did!

I think I do need some sort of support group, cause all I can do is sit around and try to think of the best way to make another trip affordable. Any suggestions?:headache:

Found a side affect to my Disney-obsession today....trying to walk from one end of our local mall to the other in a post-Christmas parade crowd actually put a smile on my face because it reminded me of navigating the crowds in the World. :rotfl: :sad2: :rolleyes1 I need help......

We definetly know how you're feeling. It was a little depressing coming home going back into the same old routine with no Disney Magic. One thing we do to put a little smile on our face is go to the Disney Store.

I've had Disney Withdrawal for almost three years! My first trip was when I was 27, back in 05, and my DS's first trip. As soon as we got back, the first thing we did was find a big ole tupperware container and wrote on the lid: This is for DS's trip to Disney World, and put all of our loose change in it. We've been saving ever since, and we've finally booked our next vacation! We're staying at AKL in feb, and we're all so excited. We're taking our 3 yo DS for his first time, and every day he asks if we're going to Disney World today. LOL.

The best advice I give to any first time Disney traveller is "if you don't think you can go more than once don't go the first time". I remember after our first trip I nearly went nuts until I booked again (about three months later). We travel every year at Christmas and are booked for this year at WDW, next year on Disney Cruise Line and giving thought to our 2009 trip. I don't think our friends understand us, thank God for these boards, I don't have to look very hard to find people as screwed up as I am.:goodvibes

We've been doing the spare change thing here too. Plus we put all our bottle refund money into our Disney bank. I'm also trying to put a certain amount each pay away for it too. Not to mention purchasing the odd lottery ticket and entering every contest I can find.

I'm finding researching a "fantasy - the skies the limit" trip helpful too. I've decided I'll plug everything in to it (sea World, Cape Canaveral, special tours etc.) and then when the time comes let hubby pick what he wants. I've even gone so far as to find out when Easter falls in 2011 so I can figure out what month to go in! I plan to spend the next couple years observing closely what people are saying about Jan, Feb, April and May!!

Let us just remind ourselves that there are much more damaging (and expensive) obsessions we could have!!

And you're right artman....noone understands this, not even our families, like Dis members do....

You could rent points/reservation from a DVC member, it would greatly reduce the amount of money you would need for hotel.

Buy 1 AP for an adult in your party. During most times of the year it offers great discounts on rooms, dining, and merchandise.

If you get the AP, buy the DDE card, it gives 20% off most TS meals at WDW. It cost me around $65 but probably saved me close to $400 on the 3 trips I went on last year. Starting Jan 1/08 they are adding a 18% tip if you use the DDE card, so they should just change the name to the "free tip card".

Go to 1-2 character meals, not all of them. My boys 8 and 10 didn't even care about the characters when we went.

Don't stay off-site, they've got you hooked already. You probably won't enjoy the Values but the Mod's might be a pleasant surprise???? AKL and WL are Deluxes that offer some great prices.

The first few trips we rented a car, then ME started and we tried that. I'm back to renting a car because I like going to the store to buy cases of water and snacks. 2 cases of water at Publix around $12, 48 bottles of water at WDW about $120. Last trip a 8 day car rental from Alamo was $93 total.

Half the fun for myself is finding the best deal possible. I still can't believe I paid full price for the first trip!!!!

I did something of the same with my last trip in May 2007. Started out at All Stars, moved up to CSR then the last 3 nights (drum roll please) at Contemporary Magic Kingdom View. I'll never be the same again.

Fortunately I took the leap and bought DVC points by resale a few months ago. Next March ds and I are going to Animal Kingdom Villas for 4 nights and Boardwalk Villas for 4 nights. With banking and borrowing I figure I can go about twice in 3 years and stay at wonderful resorts, and the rooms are already paid for (except for yearly maintenance fees that is).

I hope you get over your homesickness, I find the best way is to plan your next vacation. Even planning an imaginary one can help, but that's how my May 2007 vacation started, as a sort of trip planning wish list. Do you think I'm out of control?:scared1:
